Objective: To investigate the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of same-day discharge (SDD) after Aquablation specifically in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC).
Methods: A prospective cohort of men with significant BPH underwent Aquablation at a single ASC. Comprehensive preoperative assessments were conducted, including uroflowmetry, IPSS, and PVR.

Purpose: To develop a novel framework to improve the visualization of distal arteries in arterial spin labeling (ASL) dynamic MRA.
Methods: The attenuation of ASL blood signal due to the repetitive application of excitation RF pulses was minimized by splitting the acquisition volume into multiple thin 2D (M2D) slices, thereby reducing the exposure of the arterial blood magnetization to RF pulses while it flows within the brain. To improve the degraded vessel visualization in the slice direction due to the limited minimum achievable 2D slice thickness, a super-resolution (SR) convolutional neural network (CNN) was trained by using 3D time-of-flight (TOF)-MRA images from a large public dataset.

Background: Recent advances in the detection and treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) have reduced morbidity and mortality from this common cancer. Despite these improvements, PCa remains the second leading cause of cancer death in men in the United States. Further understanding of the genetic underpinnings of lethal PCa is required to drive risk detection and prevention and ultimately reduce mortality.

Background: Whereas mechanical thrombectomy (MT) has become standard-of-care treatment for patients with salvageable brain tissue after acute stroke caused by large-vessel occlusions, the results of MT in patients with medium-vessel occlusions (MEVOs), particularly in the posterior cerebral artery (PCA), are not well known.
Methods: Using data from the international Stroke Thrombectomy and Aneurysm Registry (STAR), we assessed presenting characteristics and clinical outcomes for patients who underwent MT for primary occlusions in the P2 PCA segment. As a subanalysis, we compared the PCA MeVO outcomes with STAR's anterior circulation MeVO outcomes, namely middle cerebral artery (MCA) M2 and M3 segments.

Background: Childhood maltreatment (CM) has long-term consequences for the regulation of stress biology which are particularly pronounced when mental and physical health sequelae have manifested. C-reactive protein (CRP) has been shown to be elevated in the non-pregnant state in association with CM as well as in the setting of CM-associated mental and physical health sequelae. In pregnancy, however, the association between CM and CRP is less clear.

Background: Hemostasis for transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is typically achieved using a suture-mediated vascular closure device (VCD) prior to large-bore sheath insertion (preclosure technique). Recently, the addition of a hybrid closure technique using a preclose technique with the addition of a collagen-plug VCD after sheath removal in cases of failed hemostasis has been utilized.
Methods: Data were collected from the Northwell TAVR registry, including 3 high-volume TAVR centers.

Background: Artificial Intelligence Plaque Analysis (AI-QCPA, HeartFlow) provides, from a CCTA, quantitative plaque burden information including total plaque and plaque subtype volumes. We sought to evaluate the clinical utility of AI-QCPA in clinical decision making.
Methods: One hundred cases were reviewed by 3 highly experienced practicing cardiologists who are SCCT level 3 CCTA readers.

Objectives: Assess temporal changes, intercenter variability, and birthing person (BP) factors relating to interventions for extremely early deliveries.
Methods: Retrospective study of BPs and newborns delivered from 22-24 completed weeks at 13 US centers from 2011-2020. Rates of neonatology consultation, antenatal corticosteroids, cesarean delivery, live birth, attempted resuscitation (AR), and survival were assessed by epoch, center, and gestational age.

Purpose: Deleterious germline/somatic homologous recombination repair mutations (HRRm) are present in ∼25% of patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Preclinically, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibition demonstrated synergism with androgen receptor pathway (ARP)-targeted therapy. This trial evaluated the efficacy of ARP inhibitor versus PARP inhibitor versus their combination as first-line therapy in patients with mCRPC with HRRms.

Background: Clinical care pathways help guide and provide structure to clinicians and providers to improve healthcare delivery and quality. The Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Committee (QIPS) of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) has previously published care pathways for the performance of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) and pre-operative care of patients undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB).
Objective: This current RYGB care pathway was created to address intraoperative care, defined as care occurring on the day of surgery from the preoperative holding area, through the operating room, and into the postanesthesia care unit (PACU).

Background: For many patients, sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) risk is elevated temporarily. Wearable cardioverter-defibrillators (WCDs) can monitor and treat SCA during these temporary periods. Traditional WCDs can be uncomfortable, require frequent maintenance, and cannot be used when showering, resulting in poor compliance and avoidable SCA deaths.

Background: Vein of Marshall (VoM) ethanol ablation has a proven benefit in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing index procedure; however, its role in repeat ablation is unknown. We sought to evaluate the benefit of empiric VoM ethanol ablation in addition to posterior wall isolation (PWI) during the repeat procedure in patients with durable pulmonary vein (PV) isolation from prior ablation.
Methods: Twenty-three patients (age 67.

Background: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a complex disease with environmental and genetic risk factors. Polygenic risk scores (PRSs) based on disease-specific risk-associated single nucleotide variants (SNVs) have demonstrated effectiveness in stratifying individual-level disease risk for cardiovascular diseases. This prospective cohort study assessed associations of PRS of AAA (PRS) with risk of incident AAA, analyzed the effectiveness of a combined clinical-genetic risk model, and explored the clinical utility of the model in identifying high-risk individuals for AAA screening.

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a heterogenous condition with variable clinical presentations. Thrombin generation potential (TGP) and biomarkers, and blood cellular indices can reflect the underlying pathophysiology and risk stratification of PE. This case-control study analyzed TGP in 209 PE patients from Loyola University, Pulmonary Embolism Response Team program compared to normal human plasma (NHP) controls.
