Background: In light of impending physiotherapy workforce shortages in Australia and updates to career progression pathways for physiotherapists internationally, it is important to understand the beliefs and considerations that underpin decisions to pursue career development opportunities from the perspective of physiotherapists.

Purpose: To investigate physiotherapists' beliefs, motivations and perceived barriers toward career development opportunities, and explore influences which impact the decisions regarding whether and how to undertake career development in physiotherapy.

Methods: Qualitative study using one-on-one semi-structured interviews.

The co-treatment of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for advanced prostate cancer (PCa) with the fetal estrogen estetrol (E4) may further inhibit endocrine PCa tumor stimulators. We previously reported the suppression of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), total and free testosterone, and prostate-specific antigen by ADT+E4. Here, we provide more detailed data on FSH suppression by E4 and present new findings on the effect of ADT+E4 on insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1).

Discharge against medical advice in rural and remote emergency departments: views of healthcare providers.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to explore, in one remote hospital, emergency department healthcare providers' experience and perceptions of the factors surrounding a patient's decision to discharge against medical advice (DAMA). The secondary objective was to gain insight into staff experiences of the current protocols for managing DAMA cases and explore their recommendations for reducing DAMA incidence.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study involving a survey and semi-structured interviews exploring healthcare providers' (n=19) perceptions of factors perceived to be influencing DAMA, current practice for managing DAMA and recommendations for practice improvements.

Association between bronchopulmonary dysplasia severity and its risk factors and long-term outcomes in three definitions: a historical cohort study.

Objective: To compare the association of the severity categories of the 2001-National Institutes of Health (NIH), the 2018-NIH and the 2019-Jensen bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) definitions with neurodevelopmental and respiratory outcomes at 2 and 5 years' corrected age (CA), and several BPD risk factors.

Design: Single-centre historical cohort study with retrospective data collection.

Setting: Infants born between 2009 and 2015 at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers, location Amsterdam Medical Center.

Real-life clinical management patterns in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer across France: a multi-method study.

Background: We designed this study based on both a physician practice survey and real-world patient data to: (1) evaluate clinical management practices in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) among medical centers located across France; and (2) describe first-line treatment patterns among patients with ES-SCLC following the introduction of immunotherapy into clinical practice.

Methods: A 50-item questionnaire was completed by physicians from 45 medical centers specialized in SCLC management. Responses were collected from June 2022 to January 2023.

Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study included infants born between 2009 and 2016 at a gestational age (GA) <30 weeks with moderate or severe BPD at 36 weeks' postmenstrual age. Perinatal characteristics, (social) demographics, and comorbidities were collected from the electronic patient records.

Airway inflammatory changes in the lungs of patients with asthma-COPD overlap (ACO): a bronchoscopy endobronchial biopsy study.

Background: Although asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are two distinct chronic airway inflammatory diseases, they often co-exist in a patient and the condition is referred to as asthma-COPD overlap (ACO). Lack of evidence regarding the inflammatory cells in ACO airways has led to their poor prognosis and treatment. Emergency examination authorities in Queensland, Australia.

Objective: In Queensland, where a person experiences a major disturbance in their mental capacity, and is at risk of serious harm to self and others, an emergency examination authority (EEA) authorises Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) to detain and transport the person to an ED. In the ED, further detention for up to 12 h is authorised to allow the examination to be completed. Little published information describes these critical patient encounters.

Health literacy of critical care patients in a remote area health service: A cross-sectional survey.

Background: Lower life expectancy, higher rates of chronic disease, and poorer uptake of health services are common in remote patient populations. Patients with poor health literacy (HL) are less likely to attend appointments, adhere to medications, and have higher rates of chronic illness. Clinical signs of trachoma and laboratory evidence of ocular Chlamydia trachomatis infection in a remote Queensland community: a serial cross-sectional study.

Objectives: To compare the findings of standard clinical assessments and of complementary clinical and laboratory methods for determining whether community-wide treatment for trachoma is warranted in a remote Queensland community.

Management of patients with asthma COPD overlap (ACO) is clinically challenging due to insufficient evidence of pathological changes in these patients. Objective: To assess the correlation between standard laboratory indicators at admission and severe maternal complications due to placental abruption (PA) with intrauterine fetal death (IUFD) after 24 weeks.

Methods: Retrospective study in three French tertiary referral hospitals. Correlation of laboratory indicators at admission (platelet count, prothrombin, activated partial thromboplastin time, fibrinogen) and severe maternal complications (massive transfusion, multiple organ failure, hysterectomy, or maternal deaths) in patients with PA and IUFD.
