Periodontitis (PD) is a chronic gum illness that may be hard to cure for a number of reasons, including the fact that no one knows what causes it, the side effects of anti-microbial treatment, and how various kinds of bacteria interact with one another. As a result, novel therapeutic approaches for PD treatment must be developed. Additionally, supplementary antibacterial regimens, including local and systemic medication administration of chemical agents, are necessary for deep pockets to assist with mechanical debridement of tooth surfaces.

Background: Different dose calculation methods vary in accuracy and speed. While most methods sacrifice precision for efficiency Monte Carlo (MC) simulation offers high accuracy but slower calculation. ISOgray treatment planning system (TPS) uses Clarkson, collapsed cone convolution (CCC), and fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithms for dose distribution.

In cases where permanent teeth have closed apices and completely erupted roots, the probability of root fractures is increased due to the stable support given by the adjacent bone and periodontal tissues. Fractures have the potential to affect several dental structures, including the pulp, dentin, cementum, bone, and periodontal tissues. In cases of horizontal root fractures (HRF), the apical section typically maintains vitality; however, the present case presented an unusual apex necrosis.

Exercise (Ex) and environmental enrichment (EE) as the nondrug solutions have positive effects on cognitive behaviors and also increase the ability to cope with anxiety, fear, and stress. In this research, we decided to investigate the simultaneous effect of Ex and EE on anxiety-like behaviors and hippocampal neurogenesis markers in healthy rats. A total of 40 male Wistar rats were divided into four treatment groups: control, EE, Ex, and EE + Ex.

Background: The use of a tourniquet is common during anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, offering convenience for the surgical procedure. However, the potential adverse effects of tourniquet use have gained increasing attention from clinical researchers. We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the clinical outcomes of tourniquet application versus non-tourniquet approach during arthroscopic ACL reconstruction.

Background: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common malignant brain tumor in adults. Typically treated with initial surgical resection, and chemoradiotherapy, despite current treatments, patients typically survive only 12-14 months, necessitating new therapeutic approaches. Our meta-analysis evaluates combining antiangiogenic medications with chemoradiotherapy versus using chemoradiotherapy alone in treating newly diagnosed GBM.

Background: Previous researches on the effect of low-fat diet (LF) on insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), and its binding proteins (IGFBPs) did not reach a consensus result, and there is no study summarizing these findings. Thus, this systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized control trials (RCTs) was performed to pool available evidence and answer the question whether dietary fat can affect IGF-1 and IGFBPs or not.
Methods: PubMed, Scopus, ISI Web of Science, Google, Google scholar, ProQuest, and the Cochrane Library were searched without language restrictions until July 2, 2024 to retrieve related studies.

Background: We aimed to explore the association between peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (pRNFL), macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (mGCIPL), and cognitive impairment (CI) in patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD).
Method: In this cross-sectional study, 38 (28 aquaporin-4 (AQP4) IgG-seropositive) NMOSD patients and 20 healthy controls (HC) underwent cognitive assessment using Minimal Assessment of Cognitive Function in Multiple Sclerosis (MACFIMS) battery. Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) was performed for both eyes of all NMOSD patients.

She originally presented with visual failure, which rapidly progressed to near total bilateral blindness. Two years later, she developed seizures and cognitive impairment, leading to a diagnosis of NCL7 resulting from a homozygote mutation in the MFSD8 gene.

Dental caries is a complex condition that results from a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Several genes have been found to play a role in teeth development and have been associated with various dental traits. In this study, our objective was to examine the potential correlation between the ectodysplasin a receptor (EDAR)-associated death domain (EDARADD), Lactoperoxidase (LPO) and Actinin Alpha 2 (ACTN2) gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to dental caries.

Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type-I (HTLV-I)-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP), the main neurological manifestation of HTLV-I, is a chronic inflammatory disease. Viral-host interaction and host genetics are two important contributors to the development of the HAM/TSP. This study was conducted to measure the serum level of tumor necrosis factor-alpha-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) by ELISA method in three groups of participants including 34 HAM/TSP patients (HAM/TSP), 35 asymptomatic HTLV-1 carriers (ACs), and 20 healthy controls (HCs).

Viral infections in humans often cause excessive inflammation. In some viral infections, inflammation can be serious and even fatal, while in other infections it can promote viral clearance. Viruses can escape from the host immune system via regulating inflammatory pathways, thus worsening the illness.

Introduction: Phytosterols are recognized for their cholesterol-reducing effects and are commonly used as dietary supplements or added to foods due to their potential cardiovascular benefits. However, evidence regarding the impact of phytosterol supplementation on inflammatory markers remains inconclusive.
Aim: This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to evaluate the effect of phytosterols in reducing levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP).
