To evaluate the effectiveness of orthodontics in combination with porcelain laminate veneers (PLV) in the aesthetic restoration and flora regulation of anterior teeth. A retrospective analysis of 336 patients who underwent aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth in our hospital from April 2019 to September 2022 was performed and divided into a control group (n = 168) and an observation group (n = 168) according to the restorative modality. The restorative modality in the control group was conventional restorative remediation, while the restorative modality in the observation group was orthodontic combined with PLV treatment.

The vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signal transduction pathway has been shown to be a potential target for the treatment of psoriasis. Ras guanyl-releasing protein 1 (RasGRP1), a downstream target gene of VEGF, regulates the development, homeostasis, and differentiation of T cells, but the contribution of RasGRP1 to psoriasis is limited. In this manuscript, we aimed to investigate the role of RasGRP1 in psoriasis.

Cisplatin is the standard chemotherapeutic drug used for the treatment of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Acquired cisplatin resistance is the primary obstacle to prolonging patient survival time. Here, the therapeutic effects of mitochondrial calcium uniporter (MCU) inhibition on tumor growth and cisplatin resistance in ESCC were assessed.

In this retrospective study, we analyzed the expression of lymphocyte activating gene 3 (LAG-3) and fibrinogen-like protein 1 (FGP1) mRNA and the corresponding proteins in 78 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) to evaluate the clinical significance and prognostic value. mRNA and protein expression were analyzed by reverse transcription PCR and Western blotting, respectively. The expression of LAG-3 and FGL1 mRNA and the corresponding proteins in tumor tissues were significantly increased in comparison with the normal esophageal mucosa.

Background: To compare the clinical efficacy of two alimentary tract reconstruction methods-"P"-shape jejunal interposition (PJI) and Roux-en-Y anastomosis after total gastrectomy.

Method: The following search phrases were utilized to search PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, China Academic Journals Network Full-text Database (CNKI), and Wanfang Database as of April 2022: "gastrectomy," "Roux-en-Y," "interposition," "total gastrectomy," and "jejunal interposition." Meta-analysis of the operation time, intraoperative blood loss, complication rate, and postoperative nutritional status of patients was performed using RevMan 5.

Purpose: Patients who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa) typically have a dismal outlook and few therapeutic choices available to them, because the precise pathogenesis of the disease is not yet fully understood. The presence of HP1α, also known as the heterochromatin protein 1α, is required for the creation of higher-order chromatin structures. However, little is known about HP1α that serves roles in the pathogenesis of PCa.

Background: The evidence of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) plus tyrosine kinase inhibitor and immune checkpoint inhibitor in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was limited. This study aimed to evaluate the role of TACE plus apatinib (TACE + A) and TACE combined with apatinib plus camrelizumab (TACE + AC) in patients with unresectable HCC.

Methods: This study retrospectively reviewed patients with unresectable HCC who received TACE + A or TACE + AC in 20 centers of China from January 1, 2019 to June 31, 2021.

Background: Chronic subdural hematomas (CSDHs) are one of the most common neurosurgical conditions. The standard surgical technique includes burr-hole craniostomy, followed by intraoperative irrigation and placement of subdural closed-system drainage. The drainage is generally removed after 48 h, which can be described as fixed-time drainage strategy.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the microbiological characteristics, antimicrobial resistance profiles, antibiotic choice, and outcomes of Nocardia infection in various centers over a 7-year period (from 2015 to 2021).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of all hospitalized patients diagnosed with Nocardia between 2015 and 2021. The isolates were identified to the species level through the sequencing of 16S ribosomal RNA or secA1 or ropB genes.

A 27-year-old Han Chinese woman presented with fever, headache, lethargy, and difficulty in expression. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) detected extensive hyperintensity of the left-sided frontoparietal, temporal, occipital, and insular cortices via fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) imaging. Post-contrast MRI revealed linear enhancement in the frontoparietal, temporal, and occipital sulci bilaterally.

Resveratrol improves ovarian state by inhibiting apoptosis of granulosa cells.

Gynecol Endocrinol

December 2023

Reproductive Medicine Center, The Fourth Hospital of Shijiazhuang, (Affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Hebei Medical University), Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China.

Aim: Among the natural polyphenolic compounds, resveratrol (RES) is known for reducing the effects of declining reproductive power through resisting senility, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, while the molecular mechanism of RES in human ovaries is unclear. We aimed to evaluate the most likely mechanisms of RES against apoptosis induced by HO in human ovary granulosa cells.

Methods: Ovarian granulosa cells from infertile women (≤35 years old) were collected.

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a common hematological malignant disease, characterized by malignant hematopoietic stem cell proliferation in the bone marrow (BM); clinically, it mainly manifests clinically mainly by as pathological hematopoiesis, hemocytopenia, and high-risk transformation to acute leukemia. Several studies have shown that the BM microenvironment plays a critical role in the progression of MDS. In this study, we specifically evaluated mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) that exert immunomodulatory effects in the BM microenvironment.

Part Fibre Toxicol

December 2022

School of Public Health, North China University of Science and Technology, Key Laboratory of Coal Mine Health and Safety in Hebei, Tangshan, 063210, Hebei, China.

Background: Many studies have shown that occupational exposure to indium and its compounds could induce lung disease. Although animal toxicological studies and human epidemiological studies suggest indium exposure may cause lung injury, inflammation, pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, and even lung cancer, related data collected from humans is currently limited and confined to single workplaces, and the early effects of exposure on the lungs are not well understood.

Objectives: This study combined population studies and animal experiments to examine the links of indium with pulmonary injury, as well as its mechanism of action.
