[Function of endothelin-1 in neurogenic pulmonary edema].

Aim: To investigate the role of endothelin-1 in the pathogenesis of neurogenetic pulmonary edema.

Methods: The levels of endothelin-1 in plasma and lung were measured in rats which suffered from diffuse brain injury on Marmarous' model. The changes of endothelin-1 in the lungs were also detected using an immunohistochemical method.

[Dietary factors and esophageal cancer: a case-control study].

A hospital-based case-control study of 112 patients with esophageal cancer was conducted to explore the association of dietary factors with cancer of the esophagus. [Pathological changes of the optic nerve from compression by the internal carotid artery].

The optic nerve in relation to the internal carotid artery was anatomically and pathologically studied in 51 adult brain specimens. There were obvious impressions on the optic nerves from compression by the sclerosed internal carotid arteries, and pathological changes in the optic nerves, such as atrophy, were observed in 6.9% of the specimens.
