Injury

April 2014

The Department of Orthopedics, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing 100853, PR China. Electronic address:

Background And Aim: The common source for reconstruction of soft tissue defects of the fingers is either the same finger or the adjacent finger. However, when the donor areas are damaged by concomitant injuries, these options are not available. The purpose of this study was to report on reconstruction of these complex digital injuries using the dorsal digito-metacarpal flaps (DDMFs) and to evaluate the efficacy of this technique.

Use of the dorsal digital sensate free flap for reconstruction of volar soft tissue defect of digits.

Ann Plast Surg

May 2014

From the *Hand Surgery Department, The Second Hospital of Tangshan; †Affiliated Hospital of North China Coal Medical College, Tangshan, Hebei; ‡The Department of Orthopedics, The Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing; §Hand Surgery Department, The Second Hospital of Qinhuangdao, Changli, Qinhuangdao, Hebei; and ∥Chengde Medical College, Chengde, Hebei, People's Republic of China.

Sensate cross-finger flaps and homodigital and heterodigital island flaps can usually be used for sensory reconstruction in the volar aspect of the digit. However, when the donor areas are damaged by concomitant injuries, these flaps are not available. The free dorsal digital flap, including both dorsal branches of the proper digital nerves, can be used as an alternative to resolve this problem.

To evaluate the effects of alendronate (ALN) on the subchondral bone quality and cartilage degeneration in the early phase of experimental model of osteoarthritis after anterior cruciate ligament transaction (ACLT). Thirty male adult healthy Japanese white rabbits after right ACLT or sham operation were divided into three groups (n = 10 per group): Sham; ACLT + ALN [after ACLT, the rabbits were treated with ALN daily starting from 4 days after surgery (10 μg/kg/d subcutaneously)]; and ACLT + NS group (after ACLT, the rabbits were injected saline as a placebo). At 60 days postsurgery, specimens from the affected knees were harvested.

In our study, BrdU-labeled marrow stem cells (MSCs) were directly (group 1), by the coronary artery (group 2), or by the ear vein (group 3) transplanted into myocardium to observe their distribution and differentiation in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) rabbit models. BrdU-positive cells, and BrdU and α-sarcomeric actin double positive cells were visible in the infarcted zones and its peripheral region. Cell processes between BrdU-positive cells and between BrdU-positive cells and host cardiomyocytes linked together.
