The main focus of this study is to investigate the clinical efficacy of external fixation treatment using removed locking plates in patients with failed debridement and antimicrobial therapy of infection after internal fixation of fractures. From January 2019 to January 2023, our medical institution treated 13 patients who had failed debridement and antimicrobial therapy for infection after internal fixation of fractures. All patients had their internal fixation devices removed, underwent thorough debridement, and then the removed locking plates were repurposed for external fixation treatment.

Background: Gastric cancer (GC) remains a malignancy with high incidence and mortality rates worldwide. Although branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) play a crucial role in various physiological and pathological processes, their specific relationship with risk of GC remains unclear.
Methods: We conducted a large-scale prospective cohort from UK Biobank database.

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for approximately 85% of lung cancer cases and remains a leading cause of cancer-related death. Lymph node metastasis (LNM) significantly affects recurrence, survival rates, and treatment options. While lymph node sampling is standard for surgically removing operable NSCLC, it can lead to complications.

Background: To investigate changes in the immunophenotypes of androgen receptor (AR), prostate-specific antigen (PSA), synaptophysin (Syn), chromogranin A (CgA), p53 and Ki-67 after neoadjuvant endocrine therapy (NET) for prostate cancer (PCa) and to analyze their clinical significance.
Methods: Paired paraffin samples were collected from 40 PCa patients before and after NET, and immunohistochemistry were used to detect AR, PSA, Syn, CgA, p53 and Ki-67 expression. Based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Kaplan‒Meier survival curves were plotted for analysis of PSA and Ki-67 expression in relation to progression-free survival (PFS).

Background: Adjuvant therapy is used to reduce the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recurrence and improve patient prognosis. Exploration of treatment strategies that are both efficacious and safe has been extensively performed in the recent years. Although donafenib has demonstrated good efficacy in the treatment of advanced HCC, its use as adjuvant therapy in HCC has not been reported.

Background: Whether the Western pT1acN0M0 gastric cancer (GC) patients who met the Japanese expanded criteria could be the candidates for endoscopic treatment (ET) remains unclear because of unknown long-term survival outcomes.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study using data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program was performed. The survival differences between pT1acN0M0 gastric adenocarcinoma patients who received ET or gastrectomy treatment (GT) were evaluated using multivariate survival analysis.

Objective: To explore the effectiveness of interlocking intramedullary nail fixation system for Sanders type Ⅱ and Ⅲ calcaneal fractures by comparing with open surgery.
Methods: Forty patients (40 feet) with Sanders type Ⅱ and Ⅲ calcaneal fractures, who were admitted between May 2020 and December 2022 and met the selection criteria, were included in the study. They were randomly allocated into control group and minimally invasive group using a random number table method, with 20 cases in each group.

Transarticular external fixation is primarily used for open fractures involving the joint. However, its biggest drawback is the potential forjoint dysfunction. The article reports a successful case with complex open tibial plateau fracture treated using locked plate external fixation technique during bone callus formation stage to replace transarticular external fixation.

Background: The present body of literature provides restricted evidence concerning the application of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) in individuals diagnosed with centrally located, locally advanced, and initially surgically challenging squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCLC) following neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (CIT). Further research is warranted to elucidate the role and potential benefits of VATS in this particular patient population.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis on individuals diagnosed with centrally located and locally advanced SqCLC who received preoperative CIT at a single institution.

Postoperative complications at the anastomosis site following tracheal resection are a prevalent and substantial concern. However, most existing solutions primarily focus on managing symptoms, with limited attention given to proactively preventing the underlying pathological processes. To address this challenge, we conducted a drug screening focusing on clinically-relevant polyphenolic compounds, given the growing interest in polyphenolic compounds for their potential role in tissue repair during wound healing.

Introduction: Although third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) Osimertinib has been approved as adjuvant therapy for resected stage IIIA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR-sensitive mutations, the optimal treatment sequencing of EGFR-TKIs, particularly whether Osimertinib should be the initial or sequential therapy following the first-generation EGFR-TKIs remains uncertain.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on a cohort of patients with EGFR-mutated stage IIIA NSCLC who received treatment with either first-generation EGFR-TKIs or Osimertinib (third-generation) alone, or in sequential combination, at a single institution. The data analysis involved using the Kaplan-Meier method, log-rank test, and Cox regression.

Background: This study aimed to systematically analyze the association between long-term use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and the risk of gastric cancer (GC).
Methods: We performed a systematic search of articles on the relationship between long-term use of PPIs and the risk of GC from PubMed and EMBASE. We calculated the pooled odds ratio of GC in PPI users compared to non-PPI users using random-effects models.
