Surgical treatment of secondary fractures after percutaneous vertebroplasty: A retrospective study.

Background: Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) and percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) are effective procedures for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures (VCFs). However, recent studies have reported that secondary VCFs develop in patients after PVP or PKP treatment. This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and management of secondary fractures after PVP or PKP.

Increased production of soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) from placenta is one of the major contributors to the development of preeclampsia. Our previous study has shown that hydrogen sulfide (HS) inhibits sFlt-1 release in placenta. In the present study, we sought to investigate whether endogenous HS affects sFlt-1 production and elucidate which HS-producing enzyme is responsible for its effect in placenta.

Effect of Er,Cr:YSGG Laser at Different Output Powers on the Micromorphology and the Bond Property of Non-Carious Sclerotic Dentin to Resin Composites.

Background: The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of Er,Cr:YSGG laser irradiated at different powers on the micromorphology and the bonding property of non-carious sclerotic dentin to resin composites.

Methods: Two hundred bovine incisors characterized by non-carious sclerotic dentin were selected, and the seventy-two teeth of which for surface morphological analysis were divided into nine groups according to various treatments (A: the control group, B: only treated with the adhesive Adper Easy One, C: diamond bur polishing followed by Adper Easy One, D-I: Er,Cr:YSGG laser irradiating at 1W, 2W, 3W, 4W, 5W, 6W output power, respectively, followed by Adper Easy One). The surface roughness values were measured by the non-contact three-dimensional morphology scanner, then the surface micromorphologies of surfaces in all groups were assessed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM); meanwhile, Image Pro-Plus 6.

Infliximab is superior to other biological agents for treatment of active ulcerative colitis: A meta-analysis.

Aim: To compare the efficacy and safety of biological agents for the treatment of active ulcerative colitis (UC).

Methods: PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE and the Cochrane library were searched to screen relevant articles from January 1996 to August 2014. The mixed treatment comparison meta-analysis within a Bayesian framework was performed using WinBUGS14 software.

Electrical stimulation therapy for slow transit constipation in children: a systematic review.

Purpose: Slow transit constipation is a common disorder in children, which often does not respond well to ordinary treatments. We have conducted a systematic review of reported studies in order to better define the current state of knowledge about electrical stimulation treatment of slow transit constipation in children.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, BioMed Central, and ISI Web of Knowledge with relevant terms; six studies, all from one center, met the criteria for inclusion.

[Effects of 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine on the carcinogenesis of colorectal cancer in mouse and the in vivo expression of p16/CDKN(2) mRNA].

Objective: To explore the effects and relationship of specific demethylation agent 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-Aza-CdR) on colorectal cancer (CRC) induced by 1, 2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH) in mouse and the in vivo expression of cyclin-dependent kinases inhibitor p16/CDKN(2) mRNA.

Methods: A total of 40 male KM mice were randomized into 2 groups and CRC was induced by a 22-week injection of DMH. One group was interfered by specific DNA methyltransferase inhibitor 5-Aza-CdR.

[Status and progress of non-surgical treatment of bone nonunion].

The treatment of fracture has been greatly improved, but the incidence of nonunion is still high and which is a challenge that orthopedic clinicians. The treatment of nonunion has been the concern to the scholars. New technologys of surgical and non-surgical therapies continue to emerge, and achieve good clinical efficacy.

[Immunologic function of palatine tonsil B lymphocyte].

Objective: To study cellular immune function of palatine tonsil B lymph cell.

Method: The phenotype of palatine tonsil cells (PTC) and that of peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) were compared using fluorescence staining and flow cytometry (FCM) analysis, then immunomagnetic beads were used to separate CD3- cell in PTC and PBMC. The proliferation function of CD3- lymph cell of PTC and PBMC was tested after stimulated by CD20mAb.

Objective: To investigated the effect of chemoattractant of rhTNF-alpha on TB-LCL. Set up a model for study the interaction between cytokine and B cells.

Method: PTC were transfected with Epstein Barr virus, to get tonsil B lymphoblastic cell line(TB-LCL).
