In mining safety and other fields, similar material simulation is the main research method to study the movement and deformation of rock formation and ground surface. However, the inaccurate subsidence laws could be obtained because the strength of the composition materials like gypsum and lime is easily affected by moisture. Therefore, it is crucial to monitor the moisture content when carrying simulation experiments.

Background: The aim of the study was to use a moderated mediation model to understand and examine the relationship between negative emotions and creativity among college students during the COVID-19 pandemic, using psychological resilience as a mediator and posttraumatic growth as a moderator.
Methods: A sample of 881 college students in mainland China completed a self-report questionnaire that included four scales: the Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale, Psychological Resilience Scale, Runco Ideational Behavior Scale and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory.
Results: Findings indicated that:(1) negative emotions were a strong predictor of creativity; (2) psychological resilience partially mediated the association between negative emotions and creativity; and (3) posttraumatic growth moderated the positive effect of psychological resilience, such that the indirect effect between negative emotions and creativity via psychological resilience was stronger for someone with a low level of resilience.

Unlabelled: In this work, we studied a two-component mixture model with stochastic dominance constraint, a model arising naturally from many genetic studies. To model the stochastic dominance, we proposed a semiparametric modelling of the log of density ratio. More specifically, when the log of the ratio of two component densities is in a linear regression form, the stochastic dominance is immediately satisfied.

The molecular pathogenesis of infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus (ISKNV) infections is important but has rarely been studied in connection to host organelle behavior. In the present study, we demonstrated that ISKNV can induce host cell death via a pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 and anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family member imbalance in mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP or ΔΨm) regulation in GF-1 cells. The results of our study on ISKNV infection showed that it can induce host cell death by up to 80% at day 5 post-infection.

Microfluidic platform technology has presented a new strategy to detect and analyze analytes and biological entities thanks to its reduced dimensions, which results in lower reagent consumption, fast reaction, multiplex, simplified procedure, and high portability. In addition, various forces, such as hydrodynamic force, electrokinetic force, and acoustic force, become available to manipulate particles to be focused and aligned, sorted, trapped, patterned, etc. To fabricate microfluidic chips, silicon was the first to be used as a substrate material because its processing is highly correlated to semiconductor fabrication techniques.

Recently, adsorption techniques have emerged as practical and effective methods for removing organic dyes, dramatically extending practical capabilities for treating deleterious pollutants in wastewater. However, an urgent issue restricting the performance of these techniques is that no available absorbents that can be used to treat both cationic and anionic organic dyes have been made with simple and reliable methods until now. Herein, we report a green synthetic strategy for the preparation of SnFeO/ZnO nanoparticles decorated on reduced graphene oxide (rGO), exhibiting a remarkably large surface area (120.

The goaf is the main site of gas explosions in coal mines. A large number of accidents indicate that the occurrence of gas explosion in the goaf is related to the deformation and fracture of the goaf roof. An experimental system was constructed to study the instantaneous discharge characteristics and its ignition mechanism caused by rock damage.

Metal-hole-supported terahertz (THz) waves through the structure of a metal-wire-woven hole array (MWW-HA) present high-frequency-passed transmittance spectra of one plasmonic metamaterial with artificial plasmonic frequencies, which are inversely proportional to metal-hole widths. For the transmitted THz waves of MWW-HA, transverse-electric (TE) and transverse-magnetic (TM) waveguide modes mix within a symmetric metal-hole boundary. THz resonance waves transversely crossing the holes of MWW-HA are experimentally characterized with spectral peaks in the frequency range of 0.

In this study, adsorption characteristics of a negatively charged dye, Acid Blue 25 (AB25), on pomelo pith (PP) was studied by varying the adsorption parameters, with the aim of evaluating the adsorption mechanism and establishing the role of hydrogen bonding interactions of AB25 on agricultural wastes. The kinetics, intraparticle diffusion, mechanism, and thermodynamics of the AB25 adsorption were systematically evaluated and analyzed by pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models, the Weber-Morris intraparticle and Boyd mass transfer models, the Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich, and Temkin isotherm models, and the Van't Hoff equation. It was found that AB25 adsorption followed pseudo-second-order kinetics, governed by a two-step pore-volume intraparticle diffusion of external mass transfer of AB25 onto the PP surface.

The crust of Venus is composed of the low lying volcanic planitiae and the elevated, deformed tesserae. It is thought that the tesserae may be composed of silicic igneous rocks and that it may resemble proto-continental crust. The initial development of terrestrial continental crust is likely due to melting and deformation of primitive mafic crust via mantle-plume upwelling and collisional plate processes.

The artificial ciliary motion has been known not to be hydrodynamically optimal, limiting their associated applications in the microscale flow domain. One of the major hurdles of contemporary artificial cilia is its structural rigidity, which restricts their flexibility. To address this issue, this work proposed a shape-programmable artificial cilia design with distinctive polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and magnetic segments distributed throughout the structure, which provided precise control for time-spatial modulation of the whole artificial cilia structure under external magnetic actuation.

Collagen is the most abundant structural protein in humans, with dozens of sequence variants accounting for over 30% of the protein in an animal body. The fibrillar and hierarchical arrangements of collagen are critical in providing mechanical properties with high strength and toughness. Due to this ubiquitous role in human tissues, collagen-based biomaterials are commonly used for tissue repairs and regeneration, requiring chemical and thermal stability over a range of temperatures during materials preparation ex vivo and subsequent utility in vivo.

Existing studies of coal self-ignition and impact frictional sparks do not provide valid support for the analysis of ignition sources in all cases of methane explosions in the gob. In this paper, the explosion in the gob of the Renlou coal mine is used to investigate the piezoelectric effect and ignition characteristics of roof collapse in identifying a new ignition source of gas explosion. Experimental and theoretical analyses conclude that the piezoelectric effect is produced by quartz, which is the main constituent of the roof sandstone.
