Objective: To study the roles of TNF-alpha secretion of PBMC in patients with chronic hepatitis C and Nonalcoholic fatty liver.
Methods: The level of TNF-alpha secretion of PBMC in patients with chronic hepatitis C and Nonalcoholic fatty liver was detected by ELISA after culturing for 72 hours in vitro, as well as patients with chronic hepatitis C and the normal control.
Results: (1) Compared with the normal control, the level of TNF-alpha in group with chronic hepatitis C and in group with chronic hepatitis C and Nonalcoholic fatty liver notably increased.

Objective: To investigate clinical features of the patients with hepatitis B superinfected with acute hepatitis E (AHE).
Methods: Totally 625 consecutive patients enrolled from Dec 2002 to Dec 2006 were studied retrospectively. All of the patients were subclassified into acute hepatitis E group (AHE=437 cases) and Superinfected Group (S=188 cases), and S group was further divided into the group of chronic hepatitis B superinfected with acute hepatitis E (CHB+AHE, 130 cases) and the group of liver cirrhosis and hepatitis B superinfected with acute hepatitis E (LCB+AHE, 58 cases).

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of bicyclol for chronic hepatitis B.
Method: The authors searched CBMDisk, CJFD (2000-2006), CJD-CD, PubMed (1966-2006) for randomized controlled trials (RCT) comparing bicyclol versus non-antiviral interventions, interferon alpha (IFN-a) and lamivudine for treatment of chronic hepatitis B. Two reviewers performed data extraction and quality assessment independently and discussed when there was different opinion.

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of autologous cytokine-induced killer cells (CIK) on HBV DNA positive patients with liver cirrhosis.
Methods: HBV DNA positive 33 patients with cirrhosis were treated with CIK. Before and after cultured in vitro and post-treatment, CD3+, CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD8+, CD3+CD56+ cells, mDC and pDC were detected by flow cytometry.

Background: To study the clinical features and more reasonable typing criteria for patients with chronic severe hepatitis and decompensated liver function.
Methods: Data of 106 cases of decompensated cirrhosis, 124 cases of chronic liver failure and 100 cases of chronic liver failure (chronic liver failure group I, CLF I) with decompensated cirrhosis (chronic liver failure group II, CLF II) were analyzed retrospectively.
Results: (1) The ages were youngest in chronic liver failure group I (about 30 years), and the oldest in decompensated cirrhosis group (about 50 years).

Background: To evaluate an enzyme linked immunospot (ELISPOT) method for testing the specific cellular immunity of patients with hepatitis B and preliminarily investigate into the difference of cellular immunity in patients with various types of hepatitis B.
Methods: The patients with acute hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis B liver cirrhosis, healthy persons with HBV vaccine immunization, healthy persons with past HBV infection and HBV naive persons were enrolled in this study. Their peripheral blood mononuclear cells were tested by ELISPOT to determine the number of gamma-interferon secreting cells.

Objective: To investigate the relation of the viral markers in serum and those expressed by hepatocytes to pathological lesions of hepatic tissue in patients with chronic hepatitis B.
Methods: The relation of viral markers including HBsAg, HBsAb, HBeAg, HBeAb, HBcAb and HBV DNA in serum of 647 patients with chronic hepatitis B and HBsAg, HBcAg expressed by hepatocytes in 418 of these patients to pathological lesions of hepatic tissue was determined.
