Research Methods and Progress of Patellofemoral Joint Kinematics: A Review.

Patellofemoral pain syndrome has a high morbidity, and its pathology is closely associated with patellofemoral joint kinematics. A series of and studies have been conducted to explore patellofemoral kinematics, and the findings are relevant to the diagnosis, classification, and management of patellofemoral diseases and even the whole knee joint. However, no definite conclusion on normal patellofemoral kinematics has been established.

The diaminodiacid strategy has been widely studied in the chemical synthesis of peptide disulfide bond mimics. Diaminodiacid building blocks, which are key intermediates, are currently under the spotlight. However, one technical bottleneck inherent in existing building blocks is the contamination problem caused by the heavy metal reagents during the deprotection process, which makes the peptides less suitable for pharmaceutical use.

However, the function of PEBP4 in human glioma development and underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown.

Acute Cervical and Thoracic Ventral Side Spontaneous Spinal Epidural Hematoma Causing High Paraplegia: A Case Report.

Introduction: Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is a rare condition that can potentially cause paraplegia. SSEH has an increasing incidence rate and its cause remains unclear. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results shows that SSEH presents a spinal epidural space-occupying lesion; therefore, emergency surgical treatment is required in some cases.

Pain treatment is a critical aspect of pancreatic cancer patient clinical care. This study investigated the role of trypsin-protease activated receptor-2 (PAR-2) in pancreatic cancer pain. Pancreatic tissue samples were collected from pancreatic cancer (n=22) and control patients (n=22).

Serum Parathyroid Hormone Levels Predict Discharge and Readmission for Heart Failure.

Aims: Parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels are useful as a prognostic factor of chronic heart failure (HF) and can predict hospitalization for HF. It is unknown whether serum PTH levels in hospitalized patients with HF can predict discharge and if admission, discharge, or change from admission to discharge PTH measure is the most important predictor of readmission and/or death.

Methods: A total of 125 consecutive hospitalized patients with HF were enrolled into this study.

Background: Epileptic encephalopathy with electrical status epilepticus during sleep is an age-related and self-limited disorder. The present study analyzed the etiology, demographics, and pathogenesis of patients with electrical status epilepticus during sleep to provide information on the diagnosis and therapy of this syndrome.

Methods: The etiologies of epileptic encephalopathy with electrical status epilepticus during sleep in patients admitted in Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital from 2009 to 2014 were retrospectively analyzed.

The adhesion mediated drug resistance in cancer cells resulted from adhesion of the extracellular matrix is a major cause for multidrug resistance (MDR) and leads chemotherapeutic failure for colon cancer. In this study, we explored the role of 67-kDa laminin receptor (67LR) in chemotherapeutic drug resistance in colon cancer cells. SiRNA-mediated knockdown of 67LR decreased the cell adhesion when laminins were applied.

Objective: To evaluate the changes of plasma B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP) levels after high-pressure post-dilation following coronary stent deployment.

Methods: A total of 173 patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention for the left anterior descending artery were enrolled into the study. All patients were divided into two groups: the conventional group and the post-dilation group.

[Serum parathyroid hormone levels predict hospitalization in outpatients of heart failure: a preliminary study].

Objective: To evaluate the predicative value of serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels in outpatients of heart failure (HF) for hospitalization.

Methods: A total of 102 consecutive HF outpatients were enrolled. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves demonstrated the optimal cut-off points of PTH levels for hospitalization due to HF.
