Objective: This research was aimed at ascertaining the clinical effects of 595 nm pulsed dye laser (PDL) in combination with supramolecular salicylic acid (SSA) in the treatment of rosacea.
Methods: Eighty-four patients with rosacea were selected, of which 42 patients treated with PDL alone were considered as the control group, and 42 patients treated with 595 nm PDL in combination with 30% SSA were regarded as the observation group. The treatment continued for 4 months in the two groups.

Background: Skin glow is a subcomponent of skin quality. It has become entrenched in the cosmeceuticals and aesthetics lexicons as a synonym for health and youth, but is not well-defined as a scientific metric.
Aims: To examine the concept of skin glow and determine if it is an objective concept that can be defined and quantified.

Background: Variants in COL7A1 cause an extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous syndrome known as dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa pruriginosa (DEB-Pr). Duplilumab, a fully humanized anti-IL-4Ra monoclonal antibody, can inhibit IL-4 and IL-13-driven signaling.
Methods: Ethical Compliance: Following our Institutional Review Board, genetic testing has been made available after completing a signed informed consent form.

Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare histiocytic disorder that can present as a localized infiltration of foamy histiocytes or a multisystem disease that may be life-threatening. It is extremely rare in children. Pegoraro and colleagues present the clinical and molecular features of 21 patients with pediatric ECD through a large international collaboration, documenting that it resembles its adult counterpart, with similar molecular features and responses to agents targeting BRAF and MEK.

Shikonin is one of the primary active components extracted from the dried root of (), a traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Shikonin is known to not only exert anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-angiogenic activities, but also play a crucial role in triggering the production of reactive oxygen species, suppressing the release of exosomes, and inducing apoptosis. Increasing evidence suggests that shikonin has a protective effect against skin diseases, including psoriasis, melanoma, and hypertrophic scars.

Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been shown to play important regulatory roles in a range of both pathological and physiological contexts, but their functions in the context of skin aging remain to be clarified. In the present study, we therefore, profiled circRNA expression profiles in four pairs of aged and non-aged skin samples to identify identifying differentially expressed circRNAs that may offer clinical value as biomarkers of the skin aging process.
Methods: We utilized an RNA-seq to profile the levels of circRNAs in eyelid tissue samples, with qRT-PCR being used to confirm these RNA-seq results, and with bioinformatics approaches being used to predict downstream target miRNAs for differentially expressed circRNAs.

Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) has been considered as a major cause of chronic renal failure in children and a condition which can worsen clinical outcomes in adults. At present, the molecular mechanisms of HSPN are still unclear. In this study, iTRAQ quantitative proteomic analysis was performed on renal tissues collected from patients with HSPN and compared with those of patients after nephrectomy (controls).

Striae gravidarum is a common dermatologic condition for females caused by multiple factors during pregnancy. It remains a therapeutic challenge especially in the striae alba (SA) stage, generating psychological and emotional distress to those affected. This study aims to compare the efficacy and safety of 1565-nm non-ablative fractional laser (NAFL) and fractional microneedle radiofrequency (MRF) for treatment of SA striae gravidarum.

This study assessed miR-675-3p-related regulatory mechanisms in melanoma and the clinical relevance of such regulatory activities. We downloaded miRNA mature strand expression RNA-Seq, phenotypic, and DNA methylation data pertaining to the TCGA Melanoma cohort. Differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) between metastatic and primary melanoma patient tissues were then identified, and miR-675-3p expression in melanoma patient peripheral blood was confirmed using the GSE20994 GEO dataset, while its expression in melanoma cell lines was evaluated via qRT-RCR.

Skin cancers, including those of both both melanoma and non-melanoma subtypes, remain among the most common forms of human cancer. Non-melanoma skin cancers are typically further differentiated into the basal cell carcinoma and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) categories. Current approaches to diagnosing and treating cSCC remain unsatisfactory, and the prognosis for patients with this disease is relatively poor.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of nonunion in patients with tibia fracture and the association between influencing factors and tibia fracture nonunion.
Method: A database searches of PubMed, the Cochrane Library, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Weipu database, and Wanfang database from inception until June 2019 was conducted. The pooled prevalence, odds ratio (OR), and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated with Stata software.

Mammary and extramammary Paget's Diseases (PD) are a malignant skin cancer characterized by the appearance of Paget cells. Although easily diagnosed, its pathogenesis remains unknown. Here, single-cell RNA-sequencing identified distinct cellular states, novel biomarkers, and signaling pathways - including mTOR, associated with extramammary PD.

Phytochemicals from functional foods are common ingredients in dietary supplements and cosmetic products for anti-skin aging effects due to their antioxidant activities. A proprietary red maple (Acer rubrum) leaf extract (Maplifa™) and its major phenolic compound, ginnalin A (GA), have been reported to show antioxidant, anti-melanogenesis, and anti-glycation effects but their protective effects against oxidative stress in human skin cells remain unknown. Herein, we investigated the cytoprotective effects of Maplifa™ and GA against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and methylglyoxal (MGO)-induced oxidative stress in human keratinocytes (HaCaT cells).

One of the major goals in HIV-1 vaccine development is to achieve properly folded and stabilized envelope glycoprotein (Env) trimers that mimic the native Env on the mature virion. Here, we design and characterize uncleaved prefusion-optimized (UFO) trimers for 12 Envs currently circulating in China. Biochemical and biophysical characterization of these UFO trimers identified two subtype B/B' Envs, CNE6 and MG13, which exhibited the highest trimer content and stability at a level comparable to the subtype A reference, BG505.

To elucidate the role of autophagy in ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) and determine whether glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) plays an important role in autophagy, a donors of cardiac death (DCD) liver transplantation model was established to observe the expression of GSK-3β and autophagy in hepatocytes during liver IRI. Immunohistochemical staining and western blotting were used to detect expression of the autophagy markers, LC3 and p62, as well as study the expression of GSK-3β and AMPK. Serum enzymology changes were analyzed at different times after liver transplantation.

Recently identified broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) show great potential for clinical interventions against HIV-1 infection. However, resistant strains may impose substantial challenges. Here, we report on the identification and characterization of a panel of HIV-1 strains with broad and potent resistance against a large number of bnAbs, particularly those targeting the CD4-binding site (CD4bs).
