Background/objectives: This study focuses on the development and evaluation of novel alginate-poly[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (PMETAC) microcapsules for encapsulating pancreatic islets to address insulin deficiency in diabetes.
Methods: In previous research, we fabricated and characterized PMETAC microcapsules, evaluating their stability and permeability in vitro. This study further probes the capsules in vivo, focusing on the functional activity of the encapsulated islets post-transplantation, their viability extension, and the assessment of the immunoprotective, antifibrotic properties, and biostability of the capsules.

Islet transplantation represents a promising therapeutic approach for diabetes management, yet the isolation and evaluation of pancreatic islets remain challenging. This study focuses on the isolation of islets from rabbit pancreases, followed by a comprehensive assessment of their viability and functionality. We developed a novel method for isolating islet cells from the pancreas of adult rabbits.

Islet allotransplantation offers a promising cell therapy for type 1 diabetes, but challenges such as limited donor availability and immunosuppression persist. Microencapsulation of islets in polymer-coated alginate microcapsules is a favored strategy for immune protection and maintaining islet viability. This study introduces Poly [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (PMETAC) as an innovative coating material for microcapsules.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of a sequential therapy regimen with Mexidol (500 mg injections intravenously for 14 days) and Mexidol FORTE 250 (250 mg tablets 3 times a day for 60 days) on higher cortical functions in patients with moderate cognitive disorders in chronic cerebral ischemia.
Material And Methods: A comparative, prospective study included 63 patients with chronic cerebral ischemia with moderate cognitive impairment. All patients received basic therapy aimed at reducing risk factors (antihypertensive, antithrombotic drugs as indicated).

Unlabelled: was to identify different degrees of dermal lesions in vulvar lichen sclerosus (VLS) using cross-polarization optical coherence tomography (CP OCT) based on attenuation coefficient to detect disease early manifestations and to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
Materials And Methods: The study included 10 patients without pathology and 39 patients with VLS diagnosed histologically. CP OCT was performed on the inner surface of the labia minora, in the main lesion area.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) are common complications of CLL. The optimal treatment of steroid refractory AIHA/PRCA is not well established. We conducted a multicenter study of ibrutinib and rituximab in patients with relapsed/refractory to steroids AIHA/PRCA and underlying CLL.

FLIM (Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy) is a powerful tool that could be used in the future to diagnose islet cell recovery after therapy. The identification of appropriate FLIM parameters is required to determine islet quality and islet cell metabolism throughout the organ under various conditions of insulin deficiency. The aim of the work was to identify key FLIM parameters, changes of which are characteristic of pancreatic pathologies.

Unlabelled: was to assess the prognostic value of the plasma neuron-specific enolase (NSE) level as a predictor of functional outcome and motor function recovery in the acute period of ischemic stroke (IS).
Materials And Methods: Fifty patients with IS have been examined. On admission to the hospital and at 12-14 days after stroke onset, a clinical and neurological examination have been carried out with the supplementary quantitative assessment of neurological deficit severity according to the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), functional outcome according to the Modified Rankin Scale, and Rivermead Mobility Index.

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of BCD 054 180 μg and 240 μg administered once every 2 weeks for the treatment of remitting multiple sclerosis compared to placebo and low dose interferon beta-1a (LIB) 30 μg administered once weekly. Results of a 20 week blinded interim analysis from a double blind, comparative, randomised, placebo-controlled clinical study are included.
Material And Methods: This multinational, multicentre, double blind, comparative, placebo-controlled study enrolled 399 patients with the diagnosis of remitting multiple sclerosis: 114 patients in the sampeginterferon beta 1a and LIB groups each and 57 patients in the placebo group.

This review summarizes the results of studies concerning the problem of post-surgical hypoparathyroidism, a common complication of thyroid gland surgery, decreasing the quality of life in patients and, in some cases, leading to disability. A search for publications was carried out in electronic databases Web of Science, Scopus, Academic Search Complete (EBSCO), eLIBRARY, using keywords. The search depth was 7-10 years.

Materials And Methods: The analysis used data from the hospital register, which contained information on all PCIs, performed in the Semashko hospital between September 2016 and August 2018 (2378 patients). For this study we selected a sample of 183 ACS patients (146 men and 37 women) after PCI: 25 with definite stent thrombosis confirmed by repeated coronary angiography (CAG) (the main study group), and 158 without developing definite stent thrombosis (the comparison group) according to the observation for 12 months.
Aim: To study the comparative efficacy and safety of clopidogrel and ticagrelor in the "double" antiplatelet therapy (DATT) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in the early and late periods in real clinical practice, and to assess adherence to treatment.
Materials And Methods: The study included 109 patients with ACS, who underwent PCI. Patients were divided into two groups: the 1st group (n=57) - received ticagrelor and the 2nd group (n = 52) - received clopidogrel in the DATT for 12 months.

The review analyzes the reports addressing from different standpoints the issue of stent thrombosis and its major predictors in patients with acute coronary syndrome following transcutaneous coronary interventions. The review focuses on comparative efficacy and safety of ticagrelor and clopidogrel and the effect of double antiplatelet therapy on stent thrombosis. The issue of patients' compliance with double antiplatelet therapy is also discussed.
