Exogenous nutrients are essential for body and skeletal muscle growth in newly hatched chicks, and delaying post-hatch feeding negatively affects body growth, meat yield, and meat quality. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of delayed post-hatch feeding on the metabolic profiles of broiler chickens using a combination of targeted and untargeted metabolomics. Newly hatched chicks had either immediate free access to feed (freely fed chicks) or no access to feed from 0 to 2 days of age (delayed-fed chicks); both groups were subsequently provided feed until 13 days of age.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a promising cell source for stem cell therapy of intractable diseases in veterinary medicine, but donor-dependent cellular heterogeneity is an issue that influences therapeutic efficacy. Thus, we previously established immortalized cells that maintain the fundamental properties of primary cells, but functional evaluation had not been performed. Therefore, we evaluated the immunomodulatory capacity of the immortalized canine adipose-derived MSCs (cADSCs) in vitro and in vivo to investigate whether they maintain primary cell functions.

Most pancreatic cancers are pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC). Spherical morphology formed in three-dimensional (3D) cultures and the effects of anticancer drugs differ between epithelial and mesenchymal PDAC cell lines. In the human pancreas, cancer cells form 3D tumors, migrate to adjacent tissues, and metastasize to other organs.

Congenital tremor (CT) in piglets was first reported in 1922, and although the causative pathogen was unknown for many years, atypical porcine pestivirus (APPV) was recently shown to be the cause. APPV is difficult to isolate, and there have been few reports of APPV isolated from field materials. Here, we successfully isolated infectious particles from a tonsillar emulsion from a CT-affected piglet using the established swine-kidney-derived cell line SK-L.
