Background: Cardioprotective drugs have not been previously shown to improve the prognosis in patients with fulminant myocarditis presentation (FMP). We aimed to investigate whether cardioprotective drugs, including angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)/angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and β-blocker, administered during hospitalization improved the prognosis in patients with FMP.
Methods And Results: This multicenter cohort study conducted in Japan included 755 patients with clinically diagnosed FMP.

Purpose: This retrospective study aimed to analyze anti-seizure medication (ASM) prescription trends in Japan, particularly among older adults and women of childbearing age, to inform future treatment strategies and optimize ASM selection criteria.
Methods: Data were extracted from the National Database Open Data Japan for fiscal years (FY) 2018-2021, covering prescriptions across sex and 5-year age groups. We conducted data imputation for prescriptions under 1,000 units to maintain anonymity, calculated the estimated number of patients using standard adult maintenance doses, and adjusted for pediatric dosing using Augsberger's formula.

Objective: To assess safety of baricitinib in Japanese patients with rheumatoid arthritis in real-world clinical practice.
Methods: This all-case post-marketing surveillance study included patients initiating baricitinib for rheumatoid arthritis from September 2017 to April 2019. Treatment duration was recorded.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitor plus platinum-etoposide (PE) improved overall survival (OS) in patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). While the CASPIAN trial demonstrated the efficacy of durvalumab plus PE, the clinical trial results may not be representative of the general, real-world population because clinical trials often have strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. We herein report the efficacy and safety of durvalumab plus PE in patients with ES-SCLC in real-world, clinical practice.

Introduction: Drug-induced tubulointerstitial injury is a common cause of renal impairment. Since the mechanisms of drug-induced tubular injury are diverse, various treatment approaches are needed according to the pathogenesis. Renal biopsy is indispensable to determine not only the pathological diagnosis, but also the underlying mechanism, and to guide appropriate treatment.

To improve clinical diagnoses, assessments of potential cardiac disease risk, and predictions of lethal arrhythmias, the analysis of electrocardiograms (ECGs) requires a more accurate method of weighting waveforms to efficiently detect abnormalities that appear as minute strains in the waveforms. In addition, the inverse problem of estimating the myocardial action potential from the ECG has been a longstanding challenge. To analyze the variance of the ECG waveforms and to estimate collective myocardial action potentials (APs) from the ECG, we designed a model equation incorporating the probability densities of Gaussian functions of time-series point processes in the cardiac cycle and dipoles of the collective APs in the myocardium.

We experienced a rare case in which iliopsoas abscess (IPA), caused by an Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBL)-producing Proteus mirabilis, perforated and communicated with the ureter and caused sepsis. An 84-year-old woman, bedridden due to sequelae of a cerebral hemorrhage, was brought to our hospital with a chief complaint of fever lasting for 3 weeks. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a huge 180 × 110 × 100 mm IPA in the right iliopsoas muscle.

Immune reconstitution after human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-mismatched (haploidentical) hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo-HCT) can significantly influence long-term outcomes. The three possible HLA haplotypes after transplantation are: one carried by both the patient and the donor (shared HLA), one by donor only (donor-specific HLA), and one by patient only (host-specific HLA), and the donor T cells remain restricted to one of these three haplotypes. Understanding the presence of donor T cells restricted to each haplotype may provide more detailed insights into post-transplant immune response and potentially provide valuable information for the development of chimeric antigen receptor T cell or T cell receptor T cell constructs.

Purpose: Esaxerenone, a mineralocorticoid receptor blocker, attenuates global ischemia-induced myocardial damage and coronary endothelial dysfunction. This study aimed to determine whether esaxerenone exerted cardioprotective effects against cardioplegic arrest in Wistar rat hearts.
Methods: Isolated male Wistar rat hearts aerobically perfused via the Langendorff method for 20 min were randomly allocated to the Control (n = 6; perfused for an additional 10 min and subjected to no treatment) or Esax (n = 6; perfused with 0.

Researchers in the field of acute myeloid leukemia have long sought to establish a prognostic stratification system for clinical use that combines multiple genetic mutations. In 2022, the European LeukemiaNet (ELN) proposed a new prognostic model incorporating new genetic mutations. However, Japanese National Health insurance only recently began covering clinical genetic analysis for AML.

Background: Calcifying fibrous tumor (CFT) arising from the pleura is a relatively rare benign lesion in young and middle-aged adults. We report a 31-year-old woman with pleural CFT who underwent successful complete thoracoscopic enucleation.
Case Presentation: An asymptomatic woman presented with a mass in the right lower lung field that was incidentally detected on a chest X-ray during a routine medical checkup.
