Background: Recombinant human fibroblast growth factor-2 (rhFGF-2) has been shown to effectively promote the formation of new periodontal tissues, and its efficacy has been demonstrated in clinical settings. Moreover, the clinical and radiographic outcomes in the treatment of periodontal infrabony defects can be improved by using rhFGF-2 in combination with a bone substitute. Here, we present a case of four-wall bone defect in a tooth treated by combination regenerative therapy using rhFGF-2 and beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP).

Key Clinical Message: Endodontists should be aware that some maxillary second molars can have more than three roots. If any unusual anatomical features are detected during dental radiography or endodontic procedures, it is necessary to conduct cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanning to prevent procedural mishaps.
Abstract: CBCT can provide three-dimensional reconstructed images of the root canal system.

Background: An oxyntic gland neoplasm confined to the mucosal layer (T1a) is classified as an oxyntic gland adenoma, whereas that with submucosal invasion (T1b) is defined as gastric adenocarcinoma of the fundic gland type (GA-FG).
Methods: To reveal the differences in clinical features between them, we retrospectively investigated 136 patients with 150 oxyntic gland adenoma and GA-FG lesions.
Results: The univariate analysis revealed that the mean size (GA-FG oxyntic gland adenoma, 7.

The i-gel, a popular second-generation supraglottic airway device, has been used in a variety of airway management situations, including as an alternative to tracheal intubation for general anesthesia, rescue in difficult airway settings, and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest resuscitation. We aimed to investigate the number of experiences needed to achieve a rapid, highly successful first attempt i-gel insertion in novices with a cumulative sum analysis. We also looked at how learning affected success rates, insertion time, and bleeding and reflex (limb movement, frowning face, or coughing) incidences.

Patients with primary intestinal follicular lymphoma are often followed-up without a specific treatment, and this approach is called the "watch-and-wait approach." However, the long-term outcomes of this patient group have not been sufficiently investigated. We enrolled patients with primary intestinal follicular lymphoma who were diagnosed before 2016 and managed with the watch-and-wait approach in 20 institutions.

Background: In Kampo medicine, tongue examination is used to diagnose the pathological condition "Sho," but an objective evaluation method for its diagnostic ability has not been established. We constructed a tongue diagnosis electronic learning and evaluation system based on a standardized tongue image database.
Purpose: This study aims to verify the practicality of this assessment system by evaluating the tongue diagnosis ability of Kampo specialists (KSs), medical professionals, and students.

Netrin-1, the protein product of the NTN1 gene, is an axon guidance molecule implicated in regulation of cell survival and tumorigenesis. Expression of the netrin-1 receptors deleted in colorectal cancer (DCC) and uncoordinated 5 homolog (UNC5H) is frequently silenced in colorectal cancer (CRC) by either loss of heterozygosity or epigenetic mechanisms. However, netrin-1 expression and regulation in CRC are mostly unknown.

Patellar tendon ruptures are severe but uncommon injuries that require surgical treatment. Primary repair for acute patellar tendon ruptures using augmentation techniques has shown good results in terms of biomechanical and clinical outcomes. This Technical Note details patellar tendon repair with suture tape augmentation for proximal patellar tendon rupture.

A cemental tear involves complete or incomplete separation of the cementum on the root surface along the cementodentinal junction. Because a cemental tear can lead to periodontal breakdown and mimic endodontic and periodontal lesions, diagnosing clinical cases can be difficult and requires special examinations. A 72-year-old woman presented with a localized periodontal defect on the labial and interproximal surfaces of the mandibular right central incisor.

Background: Gastric adenocarcinoma of fundic-gland type (GA-FG) is a rare variant of gastric neoplasia. However, the etiology, classification, and clinicopathological features of gastric epithelial neoplasm of fundic-gland mucosa lineage (GEN-FGML; generic term of GA-FG related neoplasm) are not fully elucidated. We performed a large, multicenter, retrospective study to establish a new classification and clarify the clinicopathological features of GEN-FGML.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate preoperative sports participation and postoperative clinical outcomes including a return to sports (RTS) after hybrid closed-wedge high tibial osteotomy (CWHTO) for medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee. Characteristic of Hybrid CWHTO was defined as extra-articular lateral closed and medial open wedge osteotomy.
Methods: The patients who underwent hybrid CWHTO from January 2016 to December 2018 were retrospectively reviewed and divided them into sports and non-sports groups.

A medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear is common in cases of isolated injury or in those combined with anterior cruciate ligament injury. Although conservative treatment for an MCL tear is popular, some cases result in residual instability. Thus, the treatment approach of grade III MCL injury remains controversial.

Hypermobile meniscus is known as one of the causes of knee pain and locking or limitation of the range of motion during knee flexion, even when there is no evidence of meniscus tear on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Most such cases show excessive hypermobility of the posterior part of the lateral meniscus. This case report presented a rare case of a hypermobile anterior horn of the lateral meniscus.

High tibial osteotomy (HTO) procedure is generally contraindicated in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients because synovial inflammation may exacerbate joint damage post-surgery. The natural course of joint destruction in RA changed dramatically with new treatment strategies and the introduction of biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs). We report the cases of two RA patients who underwent HTO and whose disease activities were well controlled by bDMARDs.
