Penetrating orocutaneous or oropharyngeal fistulas (POFs), severe complications following unsuccessful oral or oropharyngeal reconstruction, remain complex clinical challenges due to lack of supportive tissue, contamination with saliva and chewed food, and dynamic oral environment. Here, we present a Janus hydrogel adhesive (JHA) with asymmetric functions on opposite sides fabricated via a facile surface enzyme-initiated polymerization (SEIP) approach, which self-entraps surface water and blood within an in-situ formed hydrogel layer (RL) to effectively bridge biological tissues with a supporting hydrogel (SL), achieving superior wet-adhesion and seamless wound plugging. The tough SL hydrogel interlocked with RL dissipates energy to withstand external mechanical stimuli from continuous oral motions like chewing and swallowing, thus reducing stress-induced damage.

Aging is associated with increased tumor metastasis and poor prognosis. However, how an aging immune system contributes to the process is unclear. Here, single-cell RNA sequencing reveals that in male mice, aging shifts the lung immune microenvironment towards a premetastatic niche, characterized by an increased proportion of IL-17-expressing γδT (γδ17) and neutrophils.

Background: Techniques for sperm cryopreservation have exhibited their potential in male fertility preservation. The use of frozen-thawed sperm in fertilization (IVF) cycles is widespread today. However, many studies reported that cryopreservation might have adverse effects on sperm DNA integrity, motility, and fertilization, probably due to cold shock, intra- and extracellular ice crystals, and excess reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Drug resistance is an important factor for prostate cancer (PCa) to progress into refractory PCa, and abnormal lipid metabolism usually occurs in refractory PCa, which presents great challenges for PCa therapy. Here, a cluster of differentiation 36 (CD36) inhibitor sulfosuccinimidyl oleate sodium (CD36i) and stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1) siRNA (siSCD1) are selected to inhibit lipid uptake and synthesis in PCa, respectively. To this end, a multiresponsive drug delivery nanosystem, HA@CD36i-TR@siSCD1 is designed.

Angiogenesis is imperative for bone regeneration, yet the conventional cytokine therapies have been constrained by prohibitive costs and safety apprehensions. It is urgent to develop a safer and more efficient therapeutic alternative. Herein, utilizing the methodologies of Deep Learning (DL) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), we proposed a paradigm algorithm that amalgamates with a variant, , to deftly discern potential pro-angiogenic peptides from intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) of 262 related proteins, where are fertile grounds for developing safer and highly promising bioactive peptides.

Background: Surgical palliative surgery is a common method for treating patients with middle and late stage gastrointestinal tumors. However, these patients generally experience high levels of cancer pain, which can in turn stimulate the body's stress and undermine the effect of external surgery. Although opioid drugs have a significantly positive effect on controlling cancer pain, they can induce adverse drug reactions and potential damage to the body 's immune function.

Background And Aims: The differential diagnosis of benign and malignant deep lymph nodes (LNs) has been a significant challenge up until now. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) elastography is a real-time imaging technique evaluated in several studies with diverse results. A meta-analysis was performed to assess the performance of EUS elastography for the differentiation of benign and malignant deep LNs.

Intraluminal prosthetic graft thrombus (IPT) has been described in case of endovascular aortic pathology repair. This study aimed to assess hemodynamic indicators associated with various anatomical morphologies following endovascular aortic repair (EVAR), aiming to offer further references for the choice of clinical therapy. Six model models (normal, iliac compression, aortic compression, aortoiliac compression, iliac distortion, and long-leg stent) were established based on common anatomical morphologies following EVAR.

Introduction: In Crohn's disease (CD), lesions are mainly distributed in a segmental manner, with the primary sites of involvement being the ileum and colon. Heterogeneity in colon and ileum results in location-specific clinical presentations and therapeutic responses. Mucosal healing tends to be more readily and quickly achieved in the colon than in the ileum, where lesions are more likely to develop into complex behaviors.

Purpose: This study evaluated whether endovascular therapy (ET) improved early symptom relief and decreased the incidence of moderate-to-severe post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) compared to anticoagulation alone in patients with subacute (15-28 days) iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients with subacute iliofemoral DVT from January 2020 to June 2022 were identified. A total of 86 patients were categorized to treatment with ET alongside anticoagulation (endovascular group, n = 49) or anticoagulation alone (anticoagulation group, n = 37).

Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is a very aggressive disease characterized by a heterogeneous tumor immune microenvironment (TIME). Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) constitute the major innate immune population in the TIME where they facilitate crucial regulatory processes that participate in malignant tumor progression. SPP1 + macrophages (SPP1 + Macs) are found in many cancers, but their effects on HNSCC remain unknown.

Background: While the surgical treatment of mandibular stage 3 medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is well-documented, research on maxillary stage 3 MRONJ is limited. Antiresorptive medications can induce MRONJ and atypical femoral fracture (AFF), but their impact on the feasibility of using fibula flaps for reconstruction remains controversial. This study aimed to assess the surgical outcomes and functional recovery of fibula flap reconstruction for maxillary stage 3 MRONJ, considering both recipient and donor site outcomes.

Therapeutic angiogenesis has garnered significant attention as a potential treatment strategy for lower limb ischemic diseases. Although hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) has been identified as a key promoter of therapeutic angiogenesis, its clinical application is limited due to its short half-life. In this study, we successfully developed and characterized platelet membrane-coated HGF-poly(lactic--glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles (NPs).

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a chronic inflammation-driven disease characterized by aortic wall destruction and expansion, leading to high morbidity and mortality. However, previous drug treatments for its common risk factors have not achieved favorable results, and the early prevention and treatment is still the main clinical dilemma. Anti-inflammation therapy is a promising therapeutical method targeting its pathogenesis mechanism, but it has not been explored in depth.

The oral microbiome plays an important role in human health, and an imbalance of the oral microbiome could lead to oral and systemic diseases. Orthodontic treatment is an effective method to correct malocclusion. However, it is associated with many adverse effects, including white spot lesions, caries, gingivitis, periodontitis, halitosis, and even some systematic diseases.
