Purpose: This study aims to investigate the unique proteins in exosomes from mesenchymal stem cells derived from psoriatic lesions and compare them with those from healthy human skin. It seeks to identify potential regulatory factors that may influence the differential effects observed in these exosomes.
Methods: Dermal mesenchymal stem cell exosomes were isolated from healthy human skin (HDMSCs-EXO) and psoriatic lesion of patient (PDMSCs-EXO).

Malnutrition is a prevalent condition among patients with gastric cancer and is associated with poor survival outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical utility of the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria in predicting survival among patients with gastric cancer. The multicenter retrospective cohort study (INSCOC study) included 1406 patients enrolled between December 2012 and April 2020, with follow-up data collected until June 2023.

Background: The association between TyG-BMI index and the risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a recently identified biomarker indicating insulin resistance, has yet to be elucidated. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association between TyG-BMI index and the risk of OSA using the NHANES database.
Methods: Analyses were performed on NHANES data conducted between 2015 and 2018.

Oxidative stress is the primary cause of ischaemic stroke and is closely related to circadian rhythm. However, the mechanism by which circadian rhythm regulates oxidative stress in ischaemic stroke remains elusive. The Silent Information Regulator 1 (SIRT1) controls circadian rhythm by activating the transcription of the circadian clock core protein Basic Helix-Loop-Helix ARNT Like 1 (BMAL1) through deacetylation.

Medical image segmentation algorithms based on deep learning have achieved good segmentation results in recent years, but they require a large amount of labeled data. When performing pixel-level labeling on medical images, labeling a target requires marking ten or even hundreds of points along its edge, which requires a lot of time and labor costs. To reduce the labeling cost, we utilize a click-based interactive segmentation method to generate high-quality segmentation labels.

Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) is distinguished by rapid and severe respiratory distress and prolonged hypoxemia. A traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), known as the Fuzhengjiedu formula (FZJDF), has been shown to have anti-inflammatory benefits in both clinical and experimental studies. The precise underlying processes, nevertheless, are yet unclear.

Background: Lower extremity lymphedema (LEL) staging is mainly assessed by systems that solely depend on physical examinations and lack quantitative assessment based on modern imaging.
Objective: To explore the value of MRI-based asymmetric volume measurements in the clinical staging of primary LEL.
Methods: 92 patients with unilateral primary LEL underwent MRI examinations to determine the volume of the mid-calf (Vcl) calculated using the clinical dermatome method as well as the total volume (Vmri), musculoskeletal volume (VM), and subcutaneous volume (VS) volume of the middle calves.

Medical image segmentation can effectively identify lesions in medicine, but some small and rare lesions cannot be well identified. Existing studies do not take into account the uncertainty of the occurrence of diseased tissue, and the problem of long-tailed distribution of medical data. Meanwhile, the grayscale image obtained from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) detection has problems, such as the features being difficult to extract and invalid features being difficult to distinguish.

Background: Primary dysmenorrhea (PD) is one of the most common complaints in women of childbearing age. Therefore, this trial aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of low-power visible-light-activated photodynamic therapy (PDT) in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea (PD), and to further investigate their possible mechanisms of action.
Methods: This study was conducted by using a multicenter, randomized, open, parallel control design.

Background: Malnutrition and systemic inflammation are common in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) score and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) reflect the integrated nutritional status and inflammatory level of patients with NPC, respectively. We performed this study to identify whether NLR and PG-SGA score are associated with outcome and survival time for patients with NPC undergoing chemoradiotherapy.

Background: Bariatric surgery may be indicated in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to achieve and maintain the degree of weight loss required to ensure therapeutic effects. However, bariatric surgery is still underrecognized in the treatment of NAFLD, including its inflammatory subtype, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Moreover, there is a lack of follow-up outcome data on different types of bariatric surgery in patients with NAFLD.

Purpose: To determine whether sleeve gastrectomy (SG) or Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) should be the optimal choice in patients stratified by diabetes duration and body mass index (BMI) level.
Methods: Classification tree analysis was performed to identify the influential factors for surgical procedure selection in real setting. Meta-analyses stratified by influential factors were conducted to compare the complete diabetes remission rates between SG and RYGB.

Bariatric and metabolic surgery (BMS) is the most effective treatment for obesity, type 2 diabetes and co-morbidities, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. The beneficial effects of BMS are beyond the primary goal of gastric restriction and nutrients malabsorption. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and vertical sleeve gastrectomy are the 2 most commonly performed procedures of BMS.

Abdominal drainage, serving as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool, has been widely applied to prevent complications after major abdominal surgical procedures. However, dislocation of intraperitoneal portion of drainage tube and poor drainage after major surgery has never been detailed. In this retrospective study, we determined whether postoperative abdominal infectious complications are attributed to dislocation of intraperitoneal portion of drainage tube.

Background: The aim of this study was to determine whether the clinical value of scanned computed tomography (CT) images is higher when using ultra-high-resolution CT (U-HRCT) target scanning than conventional CT target reconstruction scanning in the evaluation of ground-glass-nodule (GGN)-like lung adenocarcinoma.
Methods: A total of 91 consecutive patients with isolated GGN-like lung adenocarcinoma were included in this study from April 2017 to June 2018. U-HRCT and conventional CT scans were conducted in all enrolled patients.

Tumor-associated fibroblasts (TAFs) are often essential for solid tumor growth. However, few genetic or epigenetic alterations have been found in TAFs during the progression of solid tumors. Employing a tumor-stromal cell co-injection model, we adapted here retroviral-insertional mutagenesis to stromal cells to identify novel tumor-associated genes in TAFs.

Adipose tissue stroma contains a population of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) promote new blood vessel formation and stabilization. These adipose-derived stem cells (ASC) promote de novo formation of vascular structures in vitro. We investigated the angiogenic factors secreted by ASC and discovered that glial-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) is a key mediator for endothelial cell network formation.
