Self-Control, Openness, Personal Need for Structure and Compensatory Control Change: A Serial Mediation Investigation.

Behav Sci (Basel)

April 2024

Beijing Key Laboratory of Applied Experimental Psychology, Faculty of Psychology, National Demonstration Center for Experimental Psychology Education, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, China.

In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous studies have indicated that individuals are confronting a diminished sense of control. Compensatory control theory suggests that individuals strive to mitigate this loss by modifying their behavior. The present study aims to investigate the relationship between and during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the mediating effects of openness and the personal need for structure.

The groundwater quality is severely impacted by Nitrate (NO-N) pollution worldwide. Effective lake quality management depends on understanding the origin and fate of nitrogen (N) in the groundwater around lakes. This study combined data for multiple stable isotopes (δH-HO and δO-HO, δN-NO and δO-NO) and hydrochemistry with the hydrodynamic monitoring profile and a Bayesian isotope mixing (MixSIAR) model to clarify the sources and transformation of N within shallow groundwater around Shahu Lake in the arid area plain of Northwest China.

Music therapy is a common method to relieve anxiety and pain in cancer patients after surgery in recent years, but due to the lack of technical and algorithmic support, this therapy is not particularly stable and the therapeutic effect is not good. In this study, a neural network robotic system based on breast cancer patients was designed to analyze the effect of music relaxation training on alleviating adverse reactions after chemotherapy in breast cancer patients. Firstly, this paper introduces the necessity of neural network robot system research under the background of music therapy, and then summarizes the positive effect of music relaxation therapy on alleviating adverse reactions after chemotherapy in breast cancer patients, finally, uses neural network robot system to construct music therapy system.

High nitrogen concentration of groundwater poses a threat to human health. This study evaluated the potential health risk of nitrogen pollution in Yinchuan plain by geostatistical analysis and triangular stochastic model considering different land use types, and identified the uncertainties of the parameters. 163 samples were collected from groundwater wells in different land use types.

Denitrification performance of sulfur-based autotrophic denitrification and biomass‑sulfur-based mixotrophic denitrification in solid-phase denitrifying reactors using novel composite filters.

Institute of Process Equipment and Environmental Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Northeastern University, Shenyang 110004, PR China. Electronic address:

Both the elemental sulfur-based autotrophic denitrification (ESAD) and the biomass‑sulfur-based mixotrophic (simultaneous autotrophic and heterotrophic) denitrification processes (BSMD) are efficient methods for removing nitrate from wastewater. However, a comparative analysis of the denitrification capacity of the BSMD and ESAD in the packed bed reactors is still lacking. In this paper, corncob powder was selected as the biomass source to prepare biomass‑sulfur-based composite filter (BSCF) for the BSMD process.

Background: Transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) has been developed to improve the quality of laparoscopic TME for patients with rectal cancer. Recently, international concern on TaTME was raised by a national cohort study showing an increased rate of local recurrences. This study aimed to compare clinicopathological and mid-term oncological outcomes of TaTME versus laparoscopic TME (LaTME) for mid and low rectal cancer of a high volume center.
