Background: Ground-glass opacity (GGO) on computed tomography (CT) has been suggested as a potential prognostic factor in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), but its significance in patients with pathological stage IA3 LUAD, particularly in relation to micropapillary (MIP) status, remains unclear. This study addresses the clinical need to stratify patients based on GGO and MIP status to optimize prognosis prediction and follow-up strategies.
Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted on 411 patients with pathological stage IA3 LUAD, enrolled between July 2012 and July 2020.

Background And Objective: The efficacy of medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) in patients with intraoperatively identified patellofemoral osteoarthritis (PFOA) has been a subject of debate. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the early outcomes of UKA in patients with varying intraoperative PFOA conditions and to explore the relationship between the location of PFOA and the position of the prosthesis post-UKA. Our aim was to determine whether the presence of PFOA affects the short-term success of medial UKA.

The prevalence of childhood obesity is rising globally, with some obese children progressing to develop metabolic syndrome (MS). However, the specific differences between these groups remain unclear. To investigate the differences in gut microbiota, we conducted physiological and biochemical assessments, alongside 16S rRNA sequencing, in a cohort of 32 children from Southeastern China, which included 4 normal-weight children, 5 with mild obesity, 9 with moderate obesity, 9 with severe obesity, and 5 with metabolic syndrome.

Objective: To investigate clinical staging systems and appropriate treatment strategies for external auditory canal cholesteatoma (EACC).
Methods: We performed comparative analysis of the features of several staging schemes (Holt, Naim, Shin, Chang, Kaneda, Hn, and He) of EACC; retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 44 patients with primary EACC, and analyzed the prognosis.
Results: He's staging system (2019) was found to be particularly clear and practical.
As one of the most destructive and invasive cancers, pancreatic cancer exhibits complex tumor heterogeneity, which has been a major challenge for clinicians in terms of patient treatment and prognosis. The toll-like receptor (TLR) pathway is closely related to the immune microenvironment within various cancer tissues. To explore the development pattern of pancreatic cancer and find an ideal biomarker, our research has explored the mechanism of the TLR pathway in pancreatic cancer.

Background: Breast cancer (BRCA) is the most prevalent type of cancer worldwide. As a highly heterogeneous cancer, it has a high recurrence rate. Since its biological behavior can be regulated by immunity and cuprotosis, so exploring potential therapeutic target to mediate immunity and cuprotosis is of great significance for BRCA therapy.

Purpose: Following failed internal fixation of intertrochanteric fractures (FIF-ITF), the decision to use a long-stem or standard-stem femoral implant in hip arthroplasty is still debated. This study aimed to explore how the healing status of fractures after FIF-ITF failure affects the choice of femoral stem and clinical outcomes.
Methods: Our retrospective cohort study reviewed 105 cases of patients with FIF-ITF who underwent hip arthroplasty at three tertiary Grade A hospitals between December 2012 and December 2022.

There are limited data about the clinical benefits and harm of oral anticoagulants (OACs) for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and chronic kidney disease using CKD-EPI (Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration) creatinine equation for glomerular filtration rate (GFR) estimation in nuanced GFR stratification. We conducted a retrospective study in 12 centers in China and included 9,510 patients with AF. We grouped patients into the following estimated GFR (eGFR) categories: ≥60 (n = 7,616), 45 to 59 (n = 1,139), 30 to 44 (n = 474), and <30 (n = 281) ml/min/1.

The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway is crucial for skin barrier integrity and immune response. This study explores the impact of EGFR inhibitors, osimertinib and afatinib, on keratinocyte function, focusing on keratin (KRT1, KRT17) and tight junction protein (CLDN1, CLDN2, CLDN4) expression in HaCaT cells. Osimertinib significantly increased the mRNA and protein levels of keratins and inflammatory markers, IL-6 and TNF-α, via activation of the EGFR-STAT3 signaling pathway.

Background: Studies indicated that diverse cellular mechanisms including epithelial migration and hyper-proliferation, inflammatory responses, and enzymatic bone erosion were involved in the pathogenesis of cholesteatoma. S100A8 and S100A9, which are Ca2+-binding proteins belonging to the S100 family, can trigger the signaling pathways involved in the inflammatory processes, and a variety of cellular processes includes cell cycle progression, proliferation, and cell migration. However, the role of S100A8 and S100A9 and their associated inflammation and other signaling pathways in cholesteatoma have not been investigated yet.
