Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to identify factors that predict extracapsular extension of prostate cancer in patients undergoing radical prostatectomy, using data from 229 patients.
  • The findings revealed that a combination of the Likert scale score, biopsy grade group, and biopsy positive rate significantly improved prediction accuracy, with a combined area under the curve of 0.905.
  • The research demonstrated that these factors independently contributed to increased diagnostic efficiency for extracapsular extension, indicating a potential enhancement in pre-surgical evaluations.

Effect of PD-L1 Expression for the PD-1/L1 Inhibitors on Non-small Cell Lung Cancer: A Meta-analysis Based on Randomised Controlled Trials.

Clin Oncol (R Coll Radiol)

October 2023

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Linhai Second People's Hospital, Taizhou, Zhejiang, China. Electronic address:

Aims: As PD-L1 expression has been proposed as one of the cancer biomarkers for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the predictive value of tumour proportional score (TPS) in the effect of immunotherapy [programmed death protein-1/ligand 1 (PD-1/L1) inhibitors] for NSCLC is worth exploring further. Here, we aimed to summarise the outcomes of current NSCLC randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and explore the predictive value of TPS in clinical immunotherapy, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) with or without chemotherapy.

Materials And Methods: RCTs published by PubMed, Medline, Embase and Scopus before February 2023 comparing immunotherapy (PD-1/L1 with or without other therapy) versus a control group in advanced or metastatic NSCLC were included to assess the prognosis according to the patients' TPS with 1% and 50% as the thresholds.

Article Synopsis
  • Prostatectomy can lead to stress urinary incontinence, significantly affecting patients' quality of life.
  • Previous studies suggested that pelvic floor muscle training might help alleviate this issue, but systematic evaluation of its effectiveness was lacking.
  • This meta-analysis reviewed 11 randomized controlled trials, concluding that pelvic floor muscle training significantly improves urinary incontinence symptoms at various time points post-surgery, with noticeable improvements in patient-reported outcomes and ICIQ-SF scores.

Background: C-arm fluoroscopy, as an effective diagnosis and treatment method for spine surgery, can help doctors perform surgery procedures more precisely. In clinical surgery, the surgeon often determines the specific surgical location by comparing C-arm X-ray images with digital radiography (DR) images. However, this heavily relies on the doctor's experience.

Background: Since oxygen content and oxygen consumption typically remain unchanged within a short period, variation in central venous oxygen saturation (ΔScvO) during fluid challenge can theoretically track the changes in cardiac output (CO). We conducted this meta-analysis to systematically assess the diagnostic performance of ΔScvO during a fluid challenge for fluid responsiveness in mechanically ventilated patients receiving volume expansion.

Methods: Electronic databases were systematically searched to identify relevant studies published before October 24, 2022.
