Background: Myxomas are the most common primary cardiac tumors. Intracardiac myxomas, although benign, could cause serious consequences such as tricuspid or mitral valve obstruction, hemodynamic collapse, and acute heart failure, which pose challenges during anesthetic management. The current study was designed to summarize the anesthetic management of patients undergoing cardiac myxoma resection.

Mutations in the PPIL1 gene have been linked to type 14 pontocerebellar hypoplasia (PCH14); however, prenatal clinical characteristics of PCH14 caused by mutations in the PPIL1 gene have not been reported. This study reports the first prenatal case of PCH14 diagnosed by whole-exome sequencing (WES). Two fetuses with severe microcephaly and cerebral dysplasia, along with their parents, underwent WES.

miR‑4732‑5p promotes ovarian cancer mobility by targeting MCUR1.

Oncol Lett

June 2023

Department of Gynecology No. 5, Ningbo Women and Children's Hospital, Ningbo, Zhejiang 315012, P.R. China.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) play critical roles in tumor progression. However, the role of miR-4732 and its underlying molecular mechanism in ovarian cancer (OC) remain unclear. In the present study, the high expression of miR-4732 was confirmed to be associated with the mortality of patients with OC following surgery, according to The Cancer Genome Atlas Ovarian Cancer database (TCGA-OV).

Introduction: Asthma and bronchiolitis in children are considered common clinical problems associated with gut microbiota. However, the exact relationship between gut microbiota and the above-mentioned diseases remains unclear. Here, we discussed recent advances in understanding the potential mechanism underlying immune regulation of gut microbiota on asthma and bronchiolitis in children as well as the role of the gut-lung axis.

[Prenatal diagnosis and genetic analysis for two Chinese pedigrees carrying large fragment deletions of 13q21].

Zhonghua Yi Xue Yi Chuan Xue Za Zhi

May 2023

Central Laboratory of Birth Defects Prevention and Control, Ningbo Women and Children's Hospital, Ningbo, Zhejiang 315012, China.

Objective: To explore the strategies of prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling for fetuses of two families with large deletions of 13q21.

Methods: Two singleton fetuses who were diagnosed with chromosome 13 microdeletions by non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) at Ningbo Women and Children's Hospital in March 2021 and December 2021 respectively were selected as the study subjects. Chromosomal karyotyping and chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) were carried on amniotic samples.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined changes in plasma transfer RNA-related fragments (tRFs) in children with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) to evaluate their potential as disease markers.
  • Researchers conducted RNA sequencing on plasma samples from OSAHS and control groups, identified a significant tRF (tRF-21), and confirmed its expression differences using qRT-PCR.
  • Findings indicated that tRF-21 levels were notably lower in OSAHS children and correlated with various clinical factors, suggesting it could serve as a promising biomarker for diagnosing pediatric OSAHS.

Introduction: Cognitive impairment includes the abnormality of learning, memory and judgment, resulting in severe learning and memory impairment and social activity impairment, which greatly affects the life quality of individuals. However, the specific mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment in different behavioral paradigms remain to be elucidated.

Methods: The study utilized two behavioral paradigms, novel location recognition (NLR) and novel object recognition (NOR), to investigate the brain regions involved in cognitive function.

Disturbed circadian rhythms have been a risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Melatonin is the major chronobiotic hormone regulating both circadian rhythm and glucose homeostasis. The rs10830963 (G allele) of the () gene has the strongest genetic associations with T2DM according to several genome-wide association studies.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Chinese plaster containing rhubarb and mirabilite on surgical site infection (SSI) in patients with cesarean delivery (CD) by performing a randomized controlled trial.

Methods: This randomized controlled trial included 560 patients with CD due to fetal head descent enrolled at a tertiary teaching center between December 31, 2018 and October 31, 2021. Eligible patients were randomly assigned to a Chinese medicine (CM) group (280 cases) or a placebo group (280 cases) by a random number table, and were treated with CM plaster (made by rhubarb and mirabilite) or a placebo plaster, respectively.

We investigated the endometrial gland count on hysteroscopic endometrial images in patients undergoing in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) to evaluate endometrial receptivity and predict pregnancy outcomes. Since endometrial receptivity and endometrial glands density are strongly influenced by numerous factors, we selected 98 patients who underwent frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) in a natural cycle. Within 1-3 menstrual cycles before embryo transfer, hysteroscopic exploration was performed 3-7 days after ovulation.

Background: Monitoring the risk of intussusception after the introduction of rotavirus vaccines is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Although the validity of intussusception monitoring using electronic health records (EHRs) has been confirmed previously, no similar studies have been conducted in China. We aimed to verify the diagnosis and determine an algorithm with the best performance for identification of intussusception using Chinese EHR databases.

Ambient air pollution and gestational diabetes mellitus: An updated systematic review and meta-analysis.

Ecotoxicol Environ Saf

April 2023

Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Pathophysiology, School of Medicine, Ningbo University, Ningbo, China; Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, Ningbo University, Ningbo, China. Electronic address:

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the relationship between the composition of particulate matter (PM) and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) by a comprehensively review of epidemiological studies.

Methods: We systematically identified cohort studies related to air pollution and GDM risk before February 8, 2023 from six databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science Core Collection, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform and Chongqing VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical databases). We calculated the relative risk (RR) and its 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to assess the overall effect by using a random effects model.

Introduction: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) level has long been considered as a serum biomarker of ovarian reserve clinically, while emerging data suggest that serum AMH level may also predict pregnancy outcomes. However, whether pregestational serum AMH levels are related to perinatal outcomes among women undergoing fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles is unknown.

Objective: To explore the association between different AMH levels and perinatal outcomes in women with live births in IVF/ICSI.

Objective: Being a prevalent endocrine and metabolic disease, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) severely threatens women's physical and mental health. Glioma-associated oncogene family zinc finger 2 (GLI2) expression is up-regulated in granulosa cells of PCOS patients, but its specific role in PCOS remains unclear.

Methods: Following the treatment of human ovarian granulosa cells (KGN) with dihydrotestosterone (DHT), RT-qPCR and western blot were utilized to check GLI2 expression.
