Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the gut microbiota of 92 preterm infants in a NICU setting in China, noting how factors like birth conditions and feeding methods affect gut diversity, which is crucial for brain and immune system development.
  • - Fecal samples were collected multiple times over the first 60 days of life and analyzed; key findings showed that the most abundant gut bacteria were from phyla such as Proteobacteria and Firmicutes, with notable changes throughout the feeding periods.
  • - Results indicated that formula-fed infants had higher levels of certain gut bacteria, particularly Proteobacteria and Streptococcus, compared to breast-fed infants, highlighting the influence of diet on the gut microbiome in preterm infants.

Objective: To determine the correlation of the systemic immune-inflammatory response index (SIRI) with clinical data in patients with malignant ovarian tumor.

Methods: The clinical data of 118 patients with ovarian cancer (OC) treated in Ningbo Women's and Children's Hospital from February 2016 to January 2018 were retrospectively studied. Patients were divided into high and low SIRI expression groups according to the receiver operator curve (ROC) optimal cut-off (Cut-off) value, and the association of SIRI with the patient's clinical data was analyzed.

Purpose: To achieve prenatal prediction of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) by combining clinical model, radiomics model, and deep learning model using T2-weighted images (T2WI), and to objectively evaluate the performance of the prediction through multicenter validation.

Methods: A total of 407 pregnant women from two centers undergoing preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were retrospectively recruited. The patients from institution I were divided into a training cohort (n = 298) and a validation cohort (n = 75), while patients from institution II served as the external test cohort (n = 34).

Deep learning and radiomics analysis for prediction of placenta invasion based on T2WI.

Math Biosci Eng

July 2021

Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Ningbo University, Ningbo 315211, China.

The purpose of this study was to explore whether the Nomogram, which was constructed by combining the Deep learning and Radiomic features of T2-weighted MR images with Clinical factors (NDRC), could accurately predict placenta invasion. This retrospective study included 72 pregnant women with pathologically confirmed placenta invasion and 40 pregnant women with normal placenta. After 24 gestational weeks, all participants underwent magnetic resonance imaging.

Prenatal prediction and typing of placental invasion using MRI deep and radiomic features.

Biomed Eng Online

June 2021

Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Ningbo University, Ningbo, 315211, Zhejiang, China.

Background: To predict placental invasion (PI) and determine the subtype according to the degree of implantation, and to help physicians develop appropriate therapeutic measures, a prenatal prediction and typing of placental invasion method using MRI deep and radiomic features were proposed.

Methods: The placental tissue of abdominal magnetic resonance (MR) image was segmented to form the regions of interest (ROI) using U-net. The radiomic features were subsequently extracted from ROI.
