A primary challenge of polysaccharide analysis is the need for comprehensive extraction and characterization methods. In this study, mulberry polysaccharides at different maturities were fully extracted through a two-step process involving ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH), and their structures were determined by a combination analysis of monosaccharides and glycosidic linkages based on liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC/QqQ-MS). The results indicate mulberry polysaccharides mainly contain highly branched pectic polysaccharides, (1,3,6)-linked glucan, xylan, and xyloglucan, but the content of different portions varies at different maturity stages.

Converting planar polymer films into sophisticated 3D structures with a facile and effective method is highly challenging yet desirable for device applications in the real world. Dynamic covalent polymer networks enable permanent shape transformations from 2D sheets to 3D structures, but either sophisticated molecular design or a complex fabrication method is required. Here, we report a shape memory polymer cross-linked by ester bonds, which can be activated upon heating after photoexposure to release the catalyst for the transesterification.

Shape-memory polymers (SMPs) exhibit notable shape-shifting behaviors under environmental stimulations. In a specific shape-memory cycle, the material can be temporarily fixed at diverse geometries while recovering to the same permanent shape driven by the elastic network, which somewhat limits the versatility of SMPs. Via dynamic metallo-supramolecular interactions, herein, we report a multi-functional shape-memory polymer with tunable permanent shapes.

The current effective method for treatment of spinal cord injury (SCI) is to reconstruct the biological microenvironment by filling the injured cavity area and increasing neuronal differentiation of neural stem cells (NSCs) to repair SCI. However, the method is characterized by several challenges including irregular wounds, and mechanical and electrical mismatch of the material-tissue interface. In the current study, a unique and facile agarose/gelatin/polypyrrole (Aga/Gel/PPy, AGP3) hydrogel with similar conductivity and modulus as the spinal cord was developed by altering the concentration of Aga and PPy.

Photovoltaic agriculture is a newly emerging ecological planting pattern. In view of the adverse effect on production, a better understanding of photovoltaic adaptation responses is essential for the development of the innovative agriculture mode in sustainable crop production. Here, we investigated the impact of photovoltaic condition on endogenous hormone composition and transcriptome profile of .

Background: Luminescent nanomaterials (LNMs), especially newly-exploited fluorescent carbon-dots (CDs), have demonstrated promising candidates for sunlight harvesting and enhanced photosynthesis efficiency of crops. However, most of the studies focus on the design and synthesis of LNMs and primary metabolism in biomass acceleration, secondary metabolism that closely associated with the quality ingredients of plants is rarely mentioned.
Results: UV-absorptive and water-soluble NIR-CDs were harvested via a facile microwave-assisted carbonization method.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Mulberry leaf has attracted much attention due to its excellent curative effect on diabetes and its complications, whether the combination of its effective components have protective and synergistic effect on diabetic nephropathy (DN) in vivo remain unclear.
Aim Of The Study: The aim of this study was to investigate the protective and synergistic effect of the combination (MAF and MAF) of mulberry leaf alkaloids (MA) and flavonoids extract (MF) on DN.
Materials And Methods: A step by step method consisted of network pharmacological prediction, animal in vivo validation and metabolic mechanism research was used to construct the multi-component-target-pathway network of mulberry leaf against DN.

Bletilla striata is a precious traditional Chinese medical herb with a wide range of applications in pharmacological and cosmetic fields. Because of the shortage of resources, Bletilla ochracea and Bletilla formosanare are also used as the substitutes. To distinguish the differences and homologies, the typical morphologic and microscopic characteristics of them were compared, and a UPLC fingerprint analysis coupled with chemometric methods were developed for characterization and quality evaluation of Bletillae Rhizoma.

Soft lithography is a complementary extension of classical photolithography, which involves a multistep operation that is environmentally unfriendly and intrinsically limited to planar surfaces. Inspired by homeostasis processes in biology, we report a self-growth strategy toward direct soft lithography, bypassing conventional photolithography and its limitations. Our process uses a paraffin swollen light responsive dynamic polymer network.

Background: Fluorescent carbon-dots (CDs) with multifaceted advantages have provided hope for improvement of crop growth. Near infrared (NIR) CDs would be more competitive and promising than short-wavelength emissive CDs, which are not directly utilized by chloroplast. The molecular targets and underlying mechanism of these stimulative effects are rarely mentioned.

Diels & Gilg () has attracted much attention due to its ability on pneumonia, bronchitis, and immune-related diseases, while its functional components and underlying mechanism of action on pneumonia have not been fully elucidated. Herein, we used a systematic network pharmacology approach to explore the action mechanism of leaf in the treatment of pneumonia. In this study, the results of network pharmacology demonstrated that there were 34 active components and 80 drug-disease targets in leaf, which were strongly in connection with signal transduction, inflammatory response, and the oxidation-reduction process.
