Studies of diabetic glomerular injury have raised the possibility of developing useful early biomarkers and therapeutic approaches for the treatment of type 2 diabetic nephropathy (T2DN). In this study, we found that FGF13 expression is induced in glomerular endothelial cells (GECs) during T2DN progression. Endothelial-specific deletion of Fgf13 potentially alleviates T2DN damage, while Fgf13 overexpression has the opposite effect.

TiSe-mediated sonodynamic and checkpoint blockade combined immunotherapy in hypoxic pancreatic cancer.

J Nanobiotechnology

October 2022

Department of Ultrasound in Medicine, Ningbo First Hospital, Ningbo, 315010, People's Republic of China.

Background: Pancreatic cancer remains among the most prevalent and aggressive forms of cancer. While immunotherapeutic treatment strategies have shown some promise in affected patients, the benefits of these interventions have been limited by insufficient tumor infiltration by activated T cells.

Results: Here, Titanium diselenide (TiSe) nanosheets were synthesized with good stability.

Study on the effects of combined tea drinking and mental activity after dinner on smokers in China.

Tob Induc Dis

July 2022

Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, The Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Ningbo University, Ningbo, China.

Introduction: Cigarette and tobacco use is a leading cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, and other malignant tumors. In China, people prefer to engage in mental activities (gambling, overtime work, playing video games, or other mental activities) on the weekends or during spare time, especially in the evening before they prepare for bed. In China, smokers frequently consume tea while smoking.

Background: Acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) resulting in hospitalization is significantly associated with the increased morbidity and mortality, but there is a lack of an effective method to assess it. This study aimed to compare the ability of peak expiratory flow (PEF) and COPD assessment test (CAT) to assess COPD exacerbations requiring hospitalization.

Methods: A cohort of 110 patients with moderate to severe COPD was studied over a period of 12 months, and their daily morning PEFs and CAT scores were recorded throughout the study.

Gene profiling of Toll-like receptor signalling pathways in neutrophils of patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure.

J Transl Med

November 2021

State Key Laboratory for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, Collaborative Innovation Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Disease, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, 310003, China.

Objectives: Toll-like receptors (TLRs) on neutrophils play a crucial role in detecting pathogens and organ/tissue injury in acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). However, little is known about the exact mechanisms and potential signalling pathways. The aim of this study was to investigate alterations in TLR signalling pathways in neutrophils of ACLF patients.

Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) has been reported to be involved in infectious diseases, but it is unknown whether it plays a role in infectious pleural effusions (IPEs). We observed the levels of NAMPT in pleural effusions of different etiologies and investigated the clinical value of NAMPT in the differential diagnosis of infectious pleural effusions. A total of 111 patients with pleural effusion were enrolled in the study, including 25 parapneumonic effusions (PPEs) (17 uncomplicated PPEs, 3 complicated PPEs, and 5 empyemas), 30 tuberculous pleural effusions (TPEs), 36 malignant pleural effusions (MPEs), and 20 transudative effusions.

Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) accounts for as many as 18% of total hip arthroplasties. Knowledge of genetic changes and molecular abnormalities could help identify individuals considered to be at a higher risk of developing ONFH. In this study, we sought to identify differentially expressed miRNAs (DEmiRs) and genes (DEGs) associated with ONFH by integrated bioinformatics analyses as well as to construct the miRNA-mRNA regulatory network involving in the pathogenesis of ONFH.

Myocardium functions as an immune organ, and myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) is known to initiate myocardial innate immune response to induce myocardial injury. However, the mechanisms underlying interferon-β (IFN-β)-mediated myocardial injury during I/R and whether long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in IFN-β-mediated myocardial injury remain unknown. This study identified that I/R significantly induced IFN-β expression in induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes, and IFN-β further enhanced I/R-induced myocardial apoptosis.

The aim of this study was to assess the underlying impact of Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP), which is the main activity compound of Hort, on the blood-brain barrier, inflammatory and nitrous oxide systems in a rat model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced sepsis. The SD rats were divided into control group, LPS treatment group, and LPS + TMP treatment group. TMP administered by tail vein injection.

Introduction: Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), administering fecal suspensions via a nasoduodenal tube, has achieved a promising effect in the treatment of intestinal graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) in some pilot studies. In this study, oral FMT capsules from unrelated donor were used for the first time in the treatment of intestinal GvHD. Patient concerns: A 31-year-old male who was diagnosed as "myelodysplastic syndromes with excess blasts II" (intermediate risk 2 of international prognostic scoring system) received human leukocyte antigen -matched sibling donor allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

To evaluate the stress status of femoral head and neck, screws and acetabulum caused by femoral neck shortening after internal fixation of femoral neck fracture with finite element method, and to analyze the stress of proximal femoral neck and acetabulum from the mechanical point of view. CT scan data of hip of a healthy adult female were collected. Three-dimensional reconstruction MICs and related module function simulation was used to establish the postoperative shortening model of femoral neck fracture with Pauwells angle>50°, which was treated with cannulated screws.

LncRNA PCGEM1 accelerates non-small cell lung cancer progression via sponging miR-433-3p to upregulate WTAP.

BMC Pulm Med

August 2020

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Ningbo Ninth Hospital, No.68 Xiangbei Road, Jiangbei District, Ningbo, 315020, Zhejiang, China.

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is one of the most common malignant tumors all over the world. In recent years, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been proven to participate in the development of different cancers, including NSCLC. PCGEM1 prostate-specific transcript (PCGEM1) is the lncRNA which is associated with the progression of several cancers.

Background: Femoral nerve injury may occur in severe traffic accident injuries with pelvic fracture. Sural nerve grafts or ipsilateral obturator nerve transfer may be used to restore femoral nerve function. We report a new procedure transferring the contralateral obturator nerve to restore femoral nerve function.

Background: Femoral nerve palsy can cause loss in quadriceps function and knee extension disability, which may lead to severe lower extremity impairment. The obturator nerve trunk transfer in the pelvic, the obturator nerve mortal branches transfer out of the pelvic, along with nerve graft, was introduced years ago to restore femoral nerve function. However, the outcomes of these procedures have never been compared.

Background: Icotinib has been widely used in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and have significantly enhanced the overall survival rate of NSCLC patients. However, acquired drug resistance limits its clinical efficacy. Tumor cell-derived exosomes have been reported to participate in various biological processes, including tumor invasion, metastasis and drug resistance.
