Introduction: Hyperplasia of the mesangial area is common in IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and diabetic nephropathy (DN), and it is often difficult to distinguish them by light microscopy alone, especially in the absence of clinical data. At present, artificial intelligence (AI) is widely used in pathological diagnosis, but mainly in tumor pathology. The application of AI in renal pathological is still in its infancy.

Objectives: To investigate the mechanism of Xuanhusuo powder (XHSP) inhibiting the differentiation of spleen myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in breast cancer mice.

Methods: Forty-eight BALB/c female mice aged 4-5 weeks were selected, 6 of them were in normal control group, while others were in tumor-bearing models established by orthotopic injection of 4T1 cells into the subcutaneous fat pad of the second pair of left mammary glands. The tumor-bearing mice were divided into granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) control group, G-CSF knock-down group, model control group, XHSP small dose group, XHSP medium dose group, XHSP high dose group, and cyclophosphamide (CTX) group, with 6 mice in each group.

World J Clin Cases

March 2022

Department of Radiology, Ningbo Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Affiliated to Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Ningbo 315000, Zhejiang Province, China.

Background: The emergence of secondary drug resistance when treating epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs), seriously affects the therapeutic efficacy and survival of patients. Here, we report a case of advanced NSCLC focusing on the application of multiple biopsy modalities to reveal the development of multiple resistance mechanisms during targeted therapies.

Case Summary: A 54-year-old male patient presented with EGFR 19Del-mutated advanced lung adenocarcinoma, and exhibited the development of a T790M mutation during initial TKI treatment.

Effects of lncRNA ANRIL-knockdown on the proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle of gastric cancer cells.

Oncol Lett

August 2021

Department of Oncology, Ningbo Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Ningbo, Zhejiang 315000, P.R. China.

Gastric cancer is one of the most common types of malignant tumor of the gastrointestinal tract worldwide. Cisplatin (DDP) is a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug in the clinic; however, the resistance of gastric cancer cells to DDP limits its efficacy. In the present study, drug-resistant gastric cancer cell lines were constructed using the stepwise continuous selection method, and the relative expression levels of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) CDKN2B antisense RNA 1 (ANRIL) and microRNA (miR)-181a-5p were detected using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR.
