Background: Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is more effective for diagnosing and treating solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs). It is sometimes difficult to localize through use of minimally invasive techniques. We evaluated the feasibility, effectiveness, and safety of a novel localization method for SPNs.

3D Slicer-Assisted Preoperative Planning Enhances Hematoma Evacuation in Stereotactic Aspiration for Intracerebral Hemorrhage.

Objective: This study aims to assess whether preoperative hematoma reconstruction and precise volume calculation can improve hematoma evacuation rate in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage(sICH) undergoing stereotactic aspiration(SA).

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients with sICH who underwent SA from January 2021 to December 2023. Patients were divided into two groups based on the use of 3D Slicer for preoperative hematoma reconstruction and volume calculation.

Regulatory role of miR-128-2-5p in serum exosomes on COL6A2 expression and postmenopausal osteoporosis.

This study investigates the influence of miR-128-2-5p within serum-derived exosomes (Exos) on COL6A2 expression and its implications in postmenopausal osteoporosis (POMP). Utilizing bioinformatics analysis, we identified 1317 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), primarily enriched in the focal adhesion pathway-a critical regulator of osteoblast adhesion. A significant gene, COL6A2, emerged as notably downregulated in POMP, possessing potential as a diagnostic marker.

Inhibition of IFITM3 in cerebrovascular endothelium alleviates Alzheimer's-related phenotypes.

Introduction: Interferon-induced transmembrane protein 3 (IFITM3) modulates γ-secretase in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Although IFITM3 knockout reduces amyloid β protein (Aβ) production, its cell-specific effect on AD remains unclear.

IP6K1 rewires LKB1 signaling to mediate hyperglycemic endothelial senescence.

Diabetes is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, but the molecular mechanisms underlying diabetic vasculopathy have been elusive. Here we report that inositol hexakisphosphate kinase 1 (IP6K1) mediates hyperglycemia-induced endothelial senescence by rewiring the liver kinase B1 (LKB1) signaling from activating the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway to the p53 pathway. We found that hyperglycemia upregulated IP6K1, which disrupts the Hsp/Hsc70 and carboxyl terminus of Hsc70-interacting protein (CHIP)-mediated LKB1 degradation, leading to increased expression levels of LKB1.

Efficacy and safety of tirofiban in acute ischemic stroke patients with ideal reperfusion: A cohort study of LAA and CE subgroups.

Background And Objectives: Despite achieving ideal reperfusion (eTICI = 3) through endovascular treatment (EVT), some acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients still experience poor outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tirofiban in AIS patients with ideal reperfusion, focusing on its effects in large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) and cardioembolic (CE) stroke.

Methods: A total of 474 AIS patients from the RESCUE-BT database were included.

Early Detection of Macular Atrophy Automated Through 2D and 3D Unet Deep Learning.

Macular atrophy (MA) is an irreversible endpoint of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is the leading cause of blindness in the world. Early detection is therefore an unmet need. We have developed a novel automated method to identify MA in patients undergoing follow-up with optical coherence tomography (OCT) for AMD based on the combination of 2D and 3D Unet architecture.

Computational insights into the aggregation mechanism of human calcitonin.

Human calcitonin (hCT) is a peptide hormone that regulates calcium homeostasis, but its abnormal aggregation can disrupt physiological functions and increase the risk of medullary thyroid carcinoma. To elucidate the mechanisms underlying hCT aggregation, we investigated the self-assembly dynamics of hCT segments (hCT, hCT, and hCT) and the folding and dimerization of full-length hCT through microsecond atomistic discrete molecular dynamics (DMD) simulations. Our results revealed that hCT and hCT predominantly existed as isolated monomers with transient small-sized oligomers, indicating weak aggregation tendencies.

Recent studies have highlighted its efficacy in treating various cardiovascular conditions, such as myocardial infarction, hypertrophy, heart failure, and cardiotoxicity. This study aimed to investigate whether NBP could alleviate cardiac dysfunction and injury following hemorrhage-induced cardiac arrest (HCA) in a porcine model and elucidate its potential mechanisms.

Impact of serum lipid on recurrence of uterine fibroids: a single center retrospective study.

Background: We aimed to analyze the correlation between serum lipid levels [total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)] and recurrence after uterine fibroids (UF) resection, and explore the predictive value of serum lipid levels in determining recurrence after myomectomy.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, 323 patients undergoing first myomectomy who came from Li Huili Hospital, Ningbo Medical Center between December 2019 and January 2023 were included. The primary endpoint was the recurrence of UF within 12 months following surgery.

Cranial defect repair remains a significant challenge in neurosurgery, and designing material complexes that can support bone regeneration while minimizing complications such as infection and inflammation could help alleviate this clinical challenge. This study presents a photothermal hydrogel complex with a controlled rapid gelation process, PDA-G-A-H, which integrates photothermal polydopamine nanoparticles (PDA NPs) with gentamycin (G) and alendronate acid (A). Furthermore, the incorporation of the injectable hydrogel Pluronic F127 and collagen (H) made this composite hydrogel (PDA-G-A-H) suitable for the multifaceted needs of cranial defects.
