Stevioside is a secondary metabolite of diterpenoid glycoside production in plants. It has been used as a natural sweetener in various foods because of its high sweetness and low-calorie content. In this study, we constructed a strain for the complete synthesis of stevioside using a metabolic engineering strategy.

Vitamin K3 Suppresses Pyroptosis in THP-1 Cells through Inhibition of NF-κB and JNK Signaling Pathways.

Biol Pharm Bull

The National Engineering Research Center for Bioengineering Drugs and the Technologies, Institute of Translational Medicine, Nanchang University.

Vitamin K, a necessary nutritional supplement for human, has been found to exhibit anti-inflammatory activity. In the present study, we investigated the effects of vitamin K family on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) plus nigericin induced pyroptosis and explored the underlying mechanism of its action in THP-1 monocytes. Results showed that vitamin K3 treatment significantly suppressed THP-1 pyroptosis, but not vitamin K1 or K2, as evidenced by increased cell viability, reduced cellular lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release and improved cell morphology.

Effective Absorption Mechanism of SO and NO in the Flue Gas by Ammonium-Bromide-Based Deep Eutectic Solvents.

ACS Omega

August 2022

Key Laboratory of Advanced Coal and Coking Technology of Liaoning Province, School of Chemical Engineering, University of Science and Technology Liaoning, Anshan 114051, China.

Simultaneous capture of SO and NO from flue gas is critical for coal-fired power generation. In this study, environmentally friendly and high-performance deep eutectic solvents based on ethylene glycol and ammonium bromide were designed to capture SO and NO simultaneously. The SO and NO absorption performances and absorption mechanisms were systematically investigated by H NMR and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy in combination with ab initio calculations using Gaussian software.

Hair follicle development in Tan sheep differs significantly between the birth and Er-mao periods, but the underlying molecular mechanism is still unclear. We profiled the skin transcriptomes of Tan sheep in the birth and Er-mao periods via RNA-seq technology. The Tan sheep examined consisted of three sheep in the birth period and three sheep in the Er-mao period.

By taking full consideration of contact heterogeneity of individuals, quarantine measures, demographics, information transmission and random environments, we present a stochastic SIQR epidemic model with demographics and non-monotone incidence rate on scale-free networks, which introduces stochastic perturbations to death rate. The formula of the basic reproduction number of the deterministic model is obtained by utilizing the existence of the endemic equilibrium. Next, we define a stopping time, then the existence of a unique global positive solution for the stochastic model is proved by constructing appropriate Lyapunov function to demonstrate the stopping time is infinite.
