Plane, nonlinear Rayleigh wave propagation is investigated in a three-layer sandwich structure of a thermoelastic medium, within the frame of dual-phase-lag theory. The thermal conductivity is taken as a linear function of temperature. This induces nonlinearity in the evolution equations for the heat flux components.

Background: Recent discoveries have illustrated that Lin28A is an oncogene in various cancers, particularly acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The upregulation of Lin28A can actively contribute to tumorigenesis and migration processes in multiple organs. Hence, the inhibition of Lin28A can be achieved by applying phytochemical herbals and targeting Lin28A protein using a computer-aided drug design (CAAD) approach.

We examined whether the salutogenic nature of resilience is the pathway of association, as well as a moderating factor, between spirituality and vicarious posttraumatic growth (VPTG). Two hundred Nigerian orthopedic nurses completed the Resilience Scale (RS-14), Spiritual Involvement and Belief Scale-Revised (SIBS-R), and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory-Short Form (PTGI-SF). We found that greater spirituality and resilience were directly associated with high VPTG.

Introduction: Liver cancer, particularly Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), remains a significant global health concern due to its high prevalence and heterogeneous nature. Despite the existence of approved drugs for HCC treatment, the scarcity of predictive biomarkers limits their effective utilization. Integrating diverse data types to revolutionize drug response prediction, ultimately enabling personalized HCC management.

Wilms tumor (WT) is a pediatric kidney cancer associated with poor outcomes in patients with unfavorable histological features such as anaplasia. Small non-coding RNAs, such as miRNAs, are known to be involved in WT pathogenesis. However, research on the clinical potential of blood-based miRNAs is limited.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading liver cancer that significantly impacts global life expectancy and remains challenging to treat due to often late diagnoses. Despite advances in treatment, the prognosis is still poor, especially in advanced stages. Studies have pointed out that investigations into the molecular mechanisms underlying HCC, including mitochondrial dysfunction and epigenetic regulators, are potentially important targets for diagnosis and therapy.

Precision medicine has gained considerable popularity since the "one-size-fits-all" approach did not seem very effective or reflective of the complexity of the human body. Subsequently, since single-omics does not reflect the complexity of the human body's inner workings, it did not result in the expected advancement in the medical field. Therefore, the multi-omics approach has emerged.

Background: Depression is among known mental health conditions and students in schools of medicine are not immune to it. In this investigative study, 211 clinical medical students of two private universities from North-Central Nigeria were examined on depression prevalence, the contributory factors and their coping strategies.
Methods: The Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9), the Medical Student's Stressor Questionnaire (MSSQ) and identified coping strategies according to Coping Oriented to Problems Experienced Inventory (COPE) were instruments of data collection.

Aim: An ineffective immune response resulting from dysregulation of cytokine production might encourage viral persistence and cause chronic viral hepatitis to worsen. This study examined the relationship between alterations in interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels and the IL-6 - 174 G > C (rs1800795) polymorphism, as well as how this polymorphism affects the development and progression of chronic hepatitis brought on by hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) into hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Patients And Methods: Whole blood samples from 126 Egyptian patients with HCC (111 with HCV and 15 with HBV), as well as 126 age- and sex-matched healthy individuals, were used to extract DNA.

Burning agricultural waste is a common practice among farmers in many countries, leading to global warming and climate change. Upcycling abundant agricultural waste will prevent incineration-generated hazards and provide sustainable and eco-friendly wood. An alternative wood composite was prepared using Aspergillus niger mycelium and exopolysaccharides (EPS) as a green binder.

Platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) are one of the widely used NPs, which contribute to potential risks to the aquatic ecosystem. However, PtNPs toxicity in phytoplankton remains inadequately understood, with significant gaps in knowledge regarding their biochemical bases and species-specific responses. Herein, we investigated the impact of PtNPs on two cyanobacterial species (Anabaena laxa and Nostoc muscorum) to explore the harmful pathways triggered by PtNPs in cyanobacteria, which may help in selecting appropriate biomarkers for PtNPs pollution in aquatic environments.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains a major public health concern worldwide, with approximately 296 million individuals chronically infected. The HBV-encoded X protein (HBx) is a regulatory protein of 17 kDa, reportedly responsible for a broad range of functions, including viral replication and oncogenic processes. In this review, we summarize the state of knowledge on the mechanisms underlying HBx functions in viral replication, the antiviral effect of therapeutics directed against HBx, and the role of HBx in liver cancer development (including a hypothetical model of hepatocarcinogenesis).

Gastric cancer (GC) remains a major public health challenge worldwide. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in the development, progression, and resistance to the treatment of GC, as shown by recent developments in molecular characterization. Still, an in-depth investigation of the lncRNA landscape in GC is absent.

Secondary Sjogren's syndrome (sSS) is a medical condition that occurs in individuals with autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis. It predominantly affects females rather than males. We present a case of a 32-year-old female with a 3-year history of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who presented to the internal medicine and rheumatology clinic with several complaints, including swelling and tenderness in her left jaw, dry mouth (xerostomia), irritated eyes (xerophthalmia), severe joint pain, and a decreased in saliva production.

Planting geometry is one of the most important management practices that determine plant growth and yield of corn. The effects of eight planting geometries (35 × 23 cm, 40 × 21 cm, 45 × 19 cm, 50 × 18 cm, 55 × 17 cm, 60 × 16 cm, 65 × 15 cm, 70 × 15 cm) on plant growth and yields of three sweet corn hybrids (Argos F, Challenger F, Khan F) were investigated under Erzurum, Türkiye conditions in 2022 and 2023 years. Variance analysis of the main factors shows a highly significant effect on whole traits but in two-way interactions some of the traits were significant and in the three-way interactions, it was insignificant.
