Article Synopsis
  • Achieving effective pain management in endodontics is challenging, particularly with inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) showing a high failure rate (35%-45%) in symptomatic irreversible pulpitis cases.
  • The study involved 80 patients who received intrapulpal (IP) anesthesia with varying needle sizes (26G and 31G) and the use of obturators, measuring pain perception and duration of anesthetic action.
  • Results indicated that the 31G needle caused the least pain, especially when used with an obturator, while the 26G without an obturator proved to be the least effective in terms of pain relief.

The smear layer removal capability of different instrumentation techniques on the mesio-buccal root canals of maxillary first molars is of interest to dentists. Sixty extracted maxillary first molars with fully developed apices, curved root canals, and curvatures between 30 to 45 degrees were selected. The teeth were divided into four groups (n=15) based on the instrumentation technique used.

Article Synopsis
  • Dentures are designed to mimic the look and functionality of natural teeth, and CAD/CAM technology has revolutionized dental manufacturing methods.
  • This study aims to compare the fracture toughness of three types of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) dentures: those made with CAD/CAM, 3D printing, and conventional methods.
  • Results show that CAD/CAM PMMA had the highest fracture toughness, while 3D-printed PMMA and conventional heat-cured PMMA were significantly weaker, indicating variations in quality among the production methods.*

(1) Background: The categorization of recurrent and non-recurrent odontogenic keratocyst is complex and challenging for both clinicians and pathologists. What sets this cyst apart is its aggressive nature and high likelihood of recurrence. Despite identifying various predictive clinical/radiological/histopathological parameters, clinicians still face difficulties in therapeutic management due to its inherent aggressive nature.

The microscopic diagnostic differentiation of odontogenic cysts from other cysts is intricate and may cause perplexity for both clinicians and pathologists. Of particular interest is the odontogenic keratocyst (OKC), a developmental cyst with unique histopathological and clinical characteristics. Nevertheless, what distinguishes this cyst is its aggressive nature and high tendency for recurrence.

Background: Dental implants emerge as a dependable and efficacious alternative for patients experiencing partial or complete tooth loss. The stability of these implants is influenced by surface topography and macro-level design. In cases where the height of the maxillary posterior region is diminished, employing short implants can prove advantageous.

Titanium is the main component of dental implants. It is also routinely used as a framework material for implant-supported full-arch prostheses due to its low density, biocompatibility, and other mechanical properties. Remarkable mechanical properties such as lesser mass density and higher young's modulus of graphene have gained popularity among scientists, improving the properties of biomedical implants.
