Background Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) requires large-bore access, which is associated with bleeding and vascular complications. ProGlide and Prostar XL are vascular closure devices widely used in clinical practice, but their comparative efficacy and safety in TAVR is a subject of debate, owing to conflicting results among published studies. We aimed to compare outcomes with Proglide versus Prostar XL vascular closure devices after TAVR.

Introduction: Resveratrol is a plant-derived polyphenol suggested to have many beneficial health effects, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, proapoptotic, and anti-angiogenic. It is even specu- lated that uptake of resveratrol by red wine consumption could be behind the so-called French paradox the lower incidence of cardiovascular diseases in the French population. These properties, together with good absorption and tolerance, would make it an attractive agent in prostatic diseases, especially in cancer prevention and treatment.

We aimed to perform the first direct and adjusted indirect meta-analysis of studies on manual and mechanical thrombectomy in PCI for STEMI.

Methods: The literature was scanned for direct and indirect randomized comparisons between manual and/or mechanical thrombectomy and/or placebo by formal searches of electronic databases from November 1994 to June 2013.
