Introduction: Adolescent athletes involved in sports that involve cutting and landing maneuvers have an increased risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, highlighting the importance of identifying risky movement patterns such as dynamic knee valgus (DKV). Qualitative movement screenings have explored two-dimensional (2D) scoring criteria for DKV, however, there remains limited data on the validity of these screening tools. Determining a 2D scoring criterion for DKV that closely aligns with three-dimensional (3D) biomechanical measures will allow for the identification of poor knee position in adolescent athletes on a broad scale.

Successful treatment of dumping syndrome with diazoxide in an infant with hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

Summary: Dumping syndrome is a rare but potentially serious condition that causes inappropriate postprandial hyperinsulinemia leading to hypoglycemia in children following gastrointestinal surgeries. While dietary modifications are often the first line of treatment, severe cases may require pharmacological intervention to prevent severe hypoglycemia. We present a case of successful treatment of dumping syndrome with diazoxide.

Recent studies suggest that senescent cells in ACP tumors may contribute to tumor growth and invasion by releasing a senesecence-associated secretory phenotype.

Purpose: To identify 3D measures of scoliosis from preoperative imaging that are associated with optimal radiographic outcomes after selective thoracic fusion (STF) for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).

Methods: Subjects with primary thoracic curves (Lenke 1-4, B or C modifiers) fused selectively (L1 or above) who had preoperative 3D reconstructions and minimum 2 years of follow-up were included. An optimal outcome at 2 years was defined as having 4 of 5 parameters previously defined in the literature: (1) lumbar curve < 26º, (2) deformity flexibility quotient < 4, (3) C7-CSVL < 2 cm, (4) lumbar prominence < 5º and (5) trunk shift < 1.

Telehealth has proven to be a valuable approach to providing care to the neonatal population, including supporting families during the transition to home, facilitating remote monitoring of fragile neonates, and connecting neonatal experts with infants and caregivers in underserved or remote communities. Clinicians engaging in telehealth need to be aware of policies and regulations that govern practice as well as the potential health equity issues that may present themselves.
