Purpose: To develop an in-depth understanding of spinal cord injury (SCI) researchers' barriers and facilitators to deciding to use 1) a partnered approach to research and, 2) systematically developed principles for guiding Integrated Knowledge Translation (IKT) in spinal cord injury research (IKT Guiding Principles).
Methods: Qualitative interview study with North American SCI researchers who were interested in using a partnered research approach. The research was conducted using an IKT approach, and interview data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis.

Stress and illness connection is complex and involves multiple physiological systems. Panax ginsengs, reputed for their broad-spectrum "cure-all" effect, are widely prescribed to treat stress and related illnesses. However, the identity of ginseng's "cure-all" medicinal compounds that relieve stress remains unresolved.

While arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are the optimal route of access for hemodialysis in terms of duration of patency and infection rates, they can still fail due a variety of reasons. Most commonly, AVF failure is due to venous stenotic lesions, resulting in reduced blood flow rate across the fistula. Fistulograms are often used to investigate cases of symptomatic or poor fistula function.

Background: Interventional radiology employs minimally invasive image-guided procedures for diagnosing and treating various conditions. Among these procedures, alcohol and thermal ablation techniques have shown high efficacy. However, these procedures present challenges such as increased procedure time, radiation dose, and risk of tissue injury.

The global spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) has affected over 100 countries and has led to the tragic loss of life, overwhelmed health care systems and severely impacted the global economy. Specifically, individuals living with spinal cord injury (SCI) are particularly vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic as they often face adverse impacts on their health, emotional well-being, community participation, and life expectancy. The objective of this study was to investigate the lived experience of individuals with SCI during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario, Canada.

Background: This study presents the prevalence of burnout among the Canadian public health workforce after three years of the COVID-19 pandemic and its association with work-related factors.
Methods: Data were collected using an online survey distributed through Canadian public health associations and professional networks between November 2022 and January 2023. Burnout was measured using a modified version of the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI).

Purpose: Critical care research in Canada is conducted primarily in academically affiliated intensive care units (ICUs) with established research infrastructure. Efforts are made to engage community hospital ICUs in research, although the impacts of their inclusion in clinical research have never been explicitly quantified. We therefore sought to determine the number of additional eligible patients that could be recruited into critical care trials and the change in time to study completion if community ICUs were included in clinical research.

Animal movement is increasingly affected by human alterations to habitat and climate change. In wetland systems, widespread hydrologic alterations from agriculture have changed the shape, function, and stability of shallow streams and wetland habitats. These changes in habitat quality and quantity may be especially consequential for freshwater fishes such as Grass Pickerel (Esox americanus vermiculatus), a small predatory fish found in disjunct populations across southern Ontario and listed as Special Concern under Canada's Species at Risk Act.

Fitspiration is a social media trend that utilizes images and quotes to promote and inspire physical health and fitness. However, research has shown Fitspiration reinforces the rigidly defined appearance ideal, particularly in women, which can lead to negative body image. There remains limited understanding of the characteristics and impact of men's Fitspiration.

Introduction: Mothers are key influencers in daughters' decision making about risk behaviors. Much research on parent-child relationships and communication has been conducted among predominantly White, nonimmigrant families. However, parent-child relationships and communications about risk behaviors may significantly differ for Black immigrant families.

Metabolic dysregulation is an early event in carcinogenesis. Here, we examined the expression of enzymes involved in de novo lipogenesis (ATP-citrate lyase: ACLY), glucose uptake (Glucose Transporter 1: GLUT1), and folate-glutamate metabolism (Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen: PSMA) as potential biomarkers of risk for early prostate cancer progression. Patients who were managed initially on active surveillance with a Gleason score of 6 or a low-volume Gleason score of 7 (3 + 4) were accrued from a prostate cancer diagnostic assessment program.

Adverse drug reactions or adverse drug events account for a significant proportion of emergency department visits among children and adolescents. Unfortunately, rare reactions to medications may go unnoticed by clinicians due to a lack of reporting to drug surveillance and monitoring programs. We present the case of an 18-year-old male who visited the emergency department on two separate occasions after receiving dupilumab injections for his atopic dermatitis.

Background: Virtual nurse-led care models designed with health care professionals (HCPs) and patients may support addressing unmet prostate cancer (PCa) survivor needs. Within this context, we aimed to better understand the optimal design of a service model for a proposed nurse-led PCa follow-up care platform (Ned Nurse).
Methods: A qualitative descriptive study exploring follow-up and virtual care experiences to inform a nurse-led virtual clinic (Ned Nurse) with an a priori convenience sample of 10 HCPs and 10 patients.

This study investigated the transmission of grapevine viruses, specifically grapevine red blotch virus (GRBV) and grapevine Pinot gris virus (GPGV), in vineyards in Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada. Forty sentinel vines that were confirmed free of GRBV and GPGV by both high-throughput sequencing (HTS) and endpoint polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were introduced to two vineyards (one organic and one conventional) that were heavily infected with both GRBV and GPGV. Four months post-introduction, the sentinel vines were relocated to a phytotron.

Background: Advantages of using stereotactic body radiation therapy to treat prostate cancer include short treatment times, decreased costs, and limited toxicity. Randomized trial outcomes comparing 5-fraction stereotactic body radiation therapy to conventionally fractionated radiotherapy or hypo-fractionated radiation therapy are pending.
Objective: We report the 10-year experience with 5-fraction stereotactic body radiation therapy and hypo-fractionated radiation therapy at two Canadian centers.

Importance: Blood collection for laboratory testing in intensive care unit (ICU) patients is a modifiable contributor to anemia and red blood cell (RBC) transfusion. Most blood withdrawn is not required for analysis and is discarded.
Objective: To determine whether transitioning from standard-volume to small-volume vacuum tubes for blood collection in ICUs reduces RBC transfusion without compromising laboratory testing procedures.
