Challenges and perspectives with understanding the concept of mental fatigue.

Mental fatigue is referred to as a psychophysiological or neurobiological state caused by prolonged periods of demanding cognitive activity. Sports and exercise science research have investigated the effects of experimentally induced mental fatigue on cognitive performance, with mixed results. It has been suggested that negative effects of mental fatigue on cognition performance in laboratory studies could translate to impaired sport performance.

The effect of meloxicam at the time of treatment of hoof-horn lameness in pasture-grazing dairy cattle on time to lameness soundness, pregnancy risk and time to conception; a randomized control trial.

The aims of this study were to assess the effect of meloxicam at the time of lameness treatment for hoof-horn (HH) lesions in dairy cattle on 1) time to lameness soundness post trimming and block application and 2) reproductive success Five seasonal-calving pasture-based dairy farms located in the Waikato region of New Zealand were enrolled into a randomized clinical interventional trial. Farmers were tasked with identifying lame animals over a period of approximately -4 to 6 weeks relative to the herd start of mating (HSM), with lameness subsequently confirmed with lameness score (LS) by trained technicians (0-3 scale, where ≥2 are considered lame). Animals with a LS ≥2 were examined by a veterinarian who then enrolled animals if they presented lame with HH (white-line or sole) lesions.

Experiences of nursing staff in Swiss-German nursing homes in with constipation management: A qualitative-descriptive study.

Despite existing guidelines for constipation management, constipation remains a prevalent issue among older individuals in long-term care facilities. The aim of this qualitative study was to provide an overview of nursing constipation management and the associated challenges in Swiss-German nursing homes. From September to December 2022, 51 nursing staff from 20 nursing homes were surveyed online, using literature-based open questions.

Brain tumour histopathology through the lens of deep learning: A systematic review.

Problem: Machine learning (ML)/Deep learning (DL) techniques have been evolving to solve more complex diseases, but it has been used relatively little in Glioblastoma (GBM) histopathological studies, which could benefit greatly due to the disease's complex pathogenesis.

Aim: Conduct a systematic review to investigate how ML/DL techniques have influenced the progression of brain tumour histopathological research, particularly in GBM.

Methods: 54 eligible studies were collected from the PubMed and ScienceDirect databases, and their information about the types of brain tumour/s used, types of -omics data used with histopathological data, origins of the data, types of ML/DL and its training and evaluation methodologies, and the ML/DL task it was set to perform in the study were extracted to inform us of trends in GBM-related ML/DL-based research.

This scoping review, following Levac et al.'s methodology, examines the implementation and impact of relationship-centered care (RCC) in long-term care (LTC) settings for older adults. Peer-reviewed articles from AgeLine, CINAHL Complete, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, and Web of Science were included if published after 2000, involved older adults in LTC homes, focused on RCC, and conducted in Australia, Europe, New Zealand, or North America.

Fisher-Centric Methodology: Psychosocial Risks in Fishing Sector of Aotearoa NZ.

Objective: Our paper focuses on the psychosocial risks faced by fishers in Aotearoa New Zealand, a sector with limited existing research on this topic. Using a culture-centered approach (CCA), we aimed to develop "voice infrastructure" to capture and present the voices of fishers, addressing the structural inequalities that can often leave fishers (like other marginalized groups) unheard. This paper focuses on the methodology of our pilot project that used a collaborative effort between academics, fishers, government, and non-government agencies, with the goal of understanding and mitigating the psychosocial risks within the commercial fishing industry.

Olanzapine versus quetiapine in critically ill patients with hyperactive delirium: Protocol for a multicentre, cluster-randomised, double-crossover, pragmatic clinical trial (CALM-ICU).
