Background: Marital status is an important but often overlooked sociodemographic factor that could shape cognitive health in late adulthood. Being married is shown to be linked to lower risk of dementia, but less is understood about underlying mechanisms contributing to this relationship, such as brain reserve (BR) and cognitive reserve (CR). Further, less is known about how living arrangement, independent of marital status, is associated with late-life cognition.

Background: Video interfacing is increasingly being used in research and health care. The 'VCog' Study seeks to determine whether remote research cognitive assessments are reliable and valid by directly comparing results from in-person administration of a standardized cognitive battery to the same battery administered remotely by video. The study also assesses technology use and comfort amongst participants of varying levels of cognitive impairment.

This study assessed the feasibility of a novel, community-based AD screening program to increase cognitive and retinal-based assessments.

Methods: An observational study, supported by the Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative, assessed the utility of leveraging community-based settings to increase rates of cognitive assessment (conducted by Alzheimer Society (AS) social workers [SWs]) and RetiSpec's AI-based eye test in optometry settings to detect biologic signatures of AD (plus participant survey).

Assessment of Atrial Size, Shape, and Contractility in Growth-Restricted and Small-for-Gestational-Age Fetuses.

Objectives: The size, shape, and contractility of the heart's atrial chambers have not been evaluated in fetuses with growth restriction (FGR) or who are small-for-gestational-age (SGA) as defined by the Delphi consensus protocol. This study aimed to examine the atrial chambers using speckle tracking analysis to identify any changes that may be specific for either growth disturbance.

Methods: Sixty-three fetuses were evaluated with an estimated fetal weight <10th percentile who were classified as FGR or SGA based on the Delphi consensus protocol.

Older adults use the emergency department (ED) as an important source of acute medical care, making 20+ million visits annually. Persons living with dementia are twice as likely to use the ED and 1.5 times more likely to have an avoidable visit.

Community-based organizations (CBOs) are an essential part of dementia service delivery to people living with dementia (PLWD) and family caregivers (CG) impacted by Alzheimer's and other dementias, however use of CBO services particularly by PLWD is limited. Referral of PLWD to CBOs by health systems (HS) and health care providers (HCPs) is a common way that PLWD come to use CBO services, but integration between CBOs and HS/HCPs is inconsistent. For example, referrals to CBOs might come from HS/HCPs or from other CBOs, these referrers might provide referrals for a single program or for multiple different programs, and the referrers might be physicians, social workers, case managers, or other clinicians.

Background: Community-based centers for people living with dementia (PLWD) have been implemented as part of the National Plan of dementia in Chile, delivering a multicomponent and multiprofessional intervention to support the PLWD and their families, integrating social and clinical aspects. We sought to examine the implementation and adaptation of these centers, transitioning from adult day services to a community-based dementia care model that has escalated to a public policy.

Method: We conducted a realistic evaluation using multiple qualitative data collection strategies and informants to analyze complex interventions, in 4 of a total of 9 centers.

Background: Familial Alzheimer's disease research necessitates innovative methodologies to disentangle the intricate relationships between genetic factors and neuroimaging measures. Traditional frequentist approaches, often hampered by small sample sizes in this population and challenges in incorporating prior knowledge transparently, may limit the robustness of findings.

Methods: We analyzed neuroimaging data of preclinical PSNE1 single mutation carriers, utilizing the software JASP to test effects of carrier status on measures of basal forebrain functional connectivity using both frequentist and Bayesian approach.

Clinicopathological Characteristics and Long-Term Outcomes of Cystic vs. Solid Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors: A Multi-Institutional Experience with 1727 Patients.

Objective: To investigate the clinicopathological features and long-term outcomes of cystic and solid pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs).

Summary Background Data: PanNETs uncommonly present as cystic lesions. Whether cystic PanNETs represent a distinct clinical entity compared to solid PanNETs is controversial.

Cardiovascular Disease and Cancer: A Dangerous Liaison.

The field of cardio-oncology has traditionally focused on the impact of cancer and its therapies on cardiovascular health. Mounting clinical and preclinical evidence, however, indicates that the reverse may also be true: cardiovascular disease can itself influence tumor growth and metastasis. Numerous epidemiological studies have reported that individuals with prevalent cardiovascular disease have an increased incidence of cancer.

Racism and Postpartum Blood Pressure in a Multiethnic Prospective Cohort.

Background: Postpartum hypertension is a key factor in racial-ethnic inequities in maternal mortality. Emerging evidence suggests that experiences of racism, both structural and interpersonal, may contribute to disparities. We examined associations between gendered racial microaggressions (GRMs) during obstetric care with postpartum blood pressure (BP).

"Gender-Affirming Vaginoplasty Using Robotic Peritoneal Flap Method: Long Term Outcomes of 500 Cases".

Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the outcomes of robotic peritoneal flap vaginoplasty.

Background: There is a lack of long-term outcomes data for gender-affirming vaginoplasty to inform patient decision-making.

Methods: A retrospective cohort of 500 consecutive patients undergoing robotic peritoneal flap vaginoplasty from 2017-2023 were reviewed.

Background: Semantic memory refers to knowledge of attributes associated with common objects. Quantifying the strength of semantic association between successive 'animal' fluency responses can be challenging. The current research assessed between-group differences for 'animal' fluency total output and selected verbal serial list learning, episodic memory measures.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a heterogeneous disease with different clinical phenotypes and pathophysiological subtypes. Identifying cognitive/functional subtypes in AD could elucidate the diverse clinical progression patterns. The Cognitive Function Index (CFI), a 15-item questionnaire completed by participants and study partners, captures aspects of cognitive and functional decline.

Background: Ecological momentary assessments (EMA) are increasingly used to monitor self-perceived memory and cognitive difficulties. We investigate how traditional self-reported, recall based assessments of cognitive difficulties correlate with EMA measures. We identify factors explaining shared variance between measures from the 40-item version of the Cognitive Change Index (CCI) and from EMA daily diaries, and factors explaining unique variance in each assessment.

Background: There is an urgent need for neuropsychological screening tests that are easily deployed and reliable. We have developed a digital neuropsychological screening protocol that is administered on a tablet, automatically scored using artificial intelligence, and requires approximately 10 minutes to administer. This tablet-administered protocol assesses the requisite neurocognitive constructs associated with emergent neurodegenerative illness METHOD: The digital protocol was administered to 77 ambulatory care/ memory clinic patients (Table1).

Background: Digital neuropsychological assessment easily captures behavior previously not obtainable by traditional pencil-and-paper tests. Verbal serial list learning tests are commonly used to assess for putative neurogenerative syndromes. Recognition test performance is often expressed compiling simple 'yes/ no' responses, but fail to assess process metrics such as the latency to respond to individual recognition test items.

Cardiovascular, kidney and safety outcomes with canagliflozin in older adults: A combined analysis from the CANVAS Program and CREDENCE trial.

Aim: SGLT2 inhibitors may be underused in older adults with type 2 diabetes due to concerns about safety and tolerability. This pooled analysis of the CANVAS Program and CREDENCE trial examined the efficacy and safety of canagliflozin according to age.

Methods: Pooled individual participant data from the CANVAS Program (n = 10 142) and CREDENCE trial (n = 4401) were analysed by baseline age (<65 years, 65 to <75 years, and ≥75 years).

Understanding the role of transcription and transcription factors (TFs) in cellular identity and disease, such as cancer, is essential. However, comprehensive data resources for cell line-specific TF-to-target gene annotations are currently limited. To address this, we employed a straightforward method to define regulons that capture the cell-specific aspects of TF binding and transcript expression levels.
