Background: Recently, it was reported that noncalcified plaque (NCP) volume was an independent predictor for cardiac events. Pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) attenuation is a marker of vascular inflammation and has been associated with increased cardiac mortality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationships between NCP volume, plaque vulnerability, and PCAT attenuation.

Background: Intrathoracic esophagogastric anastomosis following minimally invasive Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy is a technically demanding surgical technique that can result in serious intrathoracic infections when anastomotic leakage occurs. Herein, we report a novel side-overlap esophagogastric anastomosis with pleural closure for esophagogastric junction cancer.
Methods: The 3 key points of our novel technique were the following: (1) overlap esophagogastric anastomosis and closure of the entry hole were all performed using a linear stapler; (2) the pleura was closed to separate the anastomotic site from the thoracic cavity; and (3) the mediastinal drain was inserted transhiatally from the abdominal cavity.

Background: Individuals with heart failure displaying supra-normal left ventricular ejection fraction (snLVEF) may exhibit less favorable clinical outcomes in contrast to their counterparts with normal left ventricular ejection fraction (nLVEF). The distinctive characteristics and mid-term prognosis of individuals with severe aortic stenosis and snLVEF following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) remain enigmatic.
Methods: Among 7393 patients diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis who underwent TAVR between 2013 and 2019 and were enlisted in the optimized transcatheter valvular intervention (OCEAN-TAVI) multicenter registry (UMIN000020423), we selected patients with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥ 50%.

Background: We previously developed a Japan Esophageal Society Barrett's Esophagus (JES-BE) magnifying endoscopic classification for superficial BE-related neoplasms (BERN) and validated it in a nationwide multicenter study that followed a diagnostic flow chart based on mucosal and vascular patterns (MP, VP) with nine diagnostic criteria. Our present post hoc analysis aims to further simplify the diagnostic criteria for superficial BERN.
Methods: We used data from our previous study, including 10 reviewers' assessments for 156 images of high-magnifying narrow-band imaging (HM-NBI) (67 dysplastic and 89 non-dysplastic histology).

We present a case of recurrent myocardial infarction with coronary artery ectasia that had progressive dilation. Both implanting drug-eluting stent and antithrombotic therapy with warfarin plus P2Y12 inhibitor were feasible. The careful follow-up including morphologic evaluation may be needed for this specific lesion.
