MHC restriction, which describes the binding of TCRs from CD4 T cells to class II MHC proteins and TCRs from CD8 T cells to class I MHC proteins, is a hallmark of immunology. Seemingly rare TCRs that break this paradigm exist, but mechanistic insight into their behavior is lacking. TIL1383I is a prototypical class-mismatched TCR, cloned from a CD4 T cell but recognizing the tyrosinase tumor antigen presented by the class I MHC HLA-A2 in a fully functional manner.

The mutation was previously identified in a FLP/FRT screen of chromosome 2R for conditional growth regulators. Here we report the phenotypic characterization and genetic mapping of by undergraduate students participating in Fly-CURE, a pedagogical program that teaches the science of genetics through a classroom research experience. We find that creation of cell clones in the developing eye-antennal imaginal disc causes a headless adult phenotype, suggestive of both autonomous and non-autonomous effects on cell growth or viability.

Recent changes, such as COVID-19 restrictions and advances in technology, have led to unique effects on nursing education, requiring new pedagogical thinking and strategies. Studies have shown that a more active approach to learning leads to positive gains for students. In this conceptual paper, we argue that scaffolding specifically allows instructors to break down assignments into meaningful chunks with instructional support that fall within reach of a student's ability, making the assignment both more manageable and actively engaging.

Rehabilitation of cognitive and psychosocial deficits resulting from traumatic brain injury (TBI) continues to be an area of concern in health care. Commonly co-occurring psychiatric disorders, such as major depressive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder, create additional hurdles when attempting to remediate cognitive sequelae. There is increased need for procedures that will yield consistent gains indicative of recovery of function.

Fluorinated analogues of the fluorophore pyronin B were synthesized as a new class of amine-reactive drug-like small molecules. In water, 2,7-difluoropyronin B was found to reversibly react with primary amines to form covalent adducts. When this fluorinated analogue is added to proteins, these adducts undergo additional oxidation to yield fluorescent 9-aminopyronins.

Genetic screens are used in to identify genes key in the regulation of organismal development and growth. These screens have defined signalling pathways necessary for tissue and organismal development, which are evolutionarily conserved across species, including . Here, we have used an FLP/FRT mosaic system to screen for conditional regulators of cell growth and cell division in the eye.

The interdependent nature of romantic involvement and coparenting a child suggests that self-reported mental health and the perceived consensus of the coparenting relationship may predict the physical health of not only the individual, but their partner.
Method: We use Actor-Partner Interdependence Modeling (APIM) for 483 romantically involved coparents from the Multisite Family study on Incarceration, Parenting, and Partnering to explore this link.

Introduction: Current therapies for social anxiety disorder emphasize taking behavioral action; active engagement of a behavior despite any present fear or anxiety that is associated with the behavior, through use of exposures. However, less is known about the mechanisms of behavioral action. The present study aimed to examine personal value, self-efficacy, and the perceived social acceptability of a social behavior as correlates of behavioral action in a high social anxiety sample.

Methine-bridged conjugated bicyclic aromatic compounds are common constituents of a range of biologically relevant molecules such as porphyrins, dipyrrinones, and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, restricted rotation of these systems often results in highly to moderately fluorescent systems as observed in 3H,5H-dipyrrolo[1,2-c:2',1'-f]pyrimidin-3-ones, xanthoglows, pyrroloindolizinedione analogs, BODIPY analogs, and the phenolic and imidazolinone ring systems of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). This manuscript describes an inexpensive and operationally simple method of performing a Claisen-Schmidt condensation to generate a series of fluorescent pH dependent pyrazole/imidazole/isoindolone dipyrrinone analogs.

Incarceration of a parent is associated with negative consequences for children, such as behavioral problems, the development of antisocial personality traits, and decreased educational attainment. Data from the Multi-site Family Study on Incarceration, Parenting, and Partnering was used to analyze four measures of the coparenting relationship in families in which the father is incarcerated and the mother is not, to examine if a higher quality, more cohesive coparenting relationship is associated with fewer adverse childhood experiences for the parents' shared child. Findings suggest that children of parents who frequently argue about the child are more likely to have ever been suspended or expelled from school and are more likely to have ever had to live outside of the home with a relative, family friend, or foster parents.

Using a variety of activating and inhibitory receptors, natural killer (NK) cells protect against disease by eliminating cells that have downregulated class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins, such as in response to cell transformation or viral infection. The inhibitory murine NK receptor Ly49C specifically recognizes the class I MHC protein H-2K. Unusual among NK receptors, Ly49C exhibits a peptide-dependent sensitivity to H-2K recognition, which has not been explained despite detailed structural studies.
