Lipomatous meningioma is a rare subtype of meningioma characterized by adipocytic-like cells, believed to arise from lipid accumulation in meningothelial cells.
A case study described a female patient with seizures, revealing a 4-cm dural-based mass with significant surrounding edema.
The tumor showed combinations of typical meningothelial structures and lipid-rich cells, without signs of atypia or brain invasion, indicating that these adipocytic-like cells may represent a less active form of meningothelial cells due to metabolic issues.
