Hemorrhagic Longitudinally Extensive Transverse Myelitis (LETM) as a First Presentation of Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD): A Case Report and Literature Review.

Here we present a rare case of hemorrhagic longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis (LETM) as a first presentation of Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder. Even though the patient received aggressive treatment, he showed no significant improvement. Our case highlights the importance of prompt intervention in the case of hemorrhagic myelitis and the diagnostic challenges of hemorrhagic LETM.

The relationship of COVID-19 severity with laboratory findings and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in patients admitted to a large teaching hospital in Iran: A cross-sectional study.

Background And Aims: COVID-19 patients might be admitted to the hospital based on their clinical manifestations or to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to the severity of their symptoms or critical situation. Our main objective was to investigate clinical and demographic factors influencing COVID-19 patients' admission to the ICU and length of stay (LOS) using extracted data from the hospital information systems in Iran.

Methods: The data of hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 were retrieved from the health information system of Imam Khomeini Hospital Complex, Tehran, Iran between March 2020 and February 2022.

This report aimed to present a 44-year-old patient with severe chronic periodontitis, and sudden teeth loss since the diagnosis of MS.

Effects of routine repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation on the sleep duration of patients with treatment-resistant depression: A prospective cohort study.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the short-term and long-term effects of routine repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on the sleep duration, depressive symptoms, and quality of life of patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD).

Methods: In this prospective cohort study, 25 participants with TRD were assessed using the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) and four sleep duration components of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Depression severity was measured with Hamilton's Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) and Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI-II), and patient-perceived quality of life with the 36-Item Short-Form Survey (SF-36).

An unusual presentation of severe obstructive sleep apnea with nocturnal seizure-like movements: A case report.

Good response to rectal diazepam in refractory cases of cyclic vomiting: A case-series and review of the literature.

Key Clinical Message: Although increasing in number, cases of CVS are being frequently misdiagnosed and many are refractory to the available treatments. This paper draws attention to a timely consideration of this disorder upon suspicion and proposes rectal diazepam and cinnarizine as highly effective treatments in refractory cases of CVS.

Isolated schwannoma originating from the infraorbital nerve: A case report.

As a benign isolated and encapsulated tumor originating from the nerve sheaths, schwannomas rarely appear on the cranial nerves, among which infraorbital nerve schwannomas are highly uncommon. We report a case of isolated infraorbital nerve schwannoma in a 58-year-old male patient with a clinical manifestation of proptosis in the affected eye.

Mixed malignant glioblastoma and schwannoma in spinal cord with metachronous ependymoma: A case report.

Purpose: Increased nitric oxide (NO) synthesis and NF-kB activation have been shown as critical players in the pathophysiology of vincristine-induced peripheral neuropathy. Consistently, neural nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) inhibitors alleviated the neuropathic pain. Previous studies demonstrated that aripiprazole is capable of modulating NO synthesis and also has been reported its modulatory effect on NF-kB activity.

Thrombotic Microangiopathy in Interferon-beta-Treated Multiple Sclerosis Patient.

A 43-year-old man who was treated with interferon-beta for multiple sclerosis was presented with hypertension, headache, nausea/vomiting, blurred vision, and renal dysfunction. The treatment with drugs and dialysis relieved the symptoms. Despite plasmapheresis is known to cause improvement in renal function, no such improvement was seen in patient.

Protective effects of magnesium sulfate against doxorubicin induced cardiotoxicity in rats.

Aims: Clinical use of doxorubicin, an effective chemotherapeutic agent, has limited uses due to dose-dependent cardiac toxicity. It has been supposed that the production of free radicals and calcium ions overload can lead to cardiac toxicity. Magnesium is a cardioprotective drug which inhibits lipid peroxidation and reducing myocardial apoptosis.
