Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy and deep relaxation technique (DRT) in reducing perioperative anxiety, a challenging occurrence that can negatively impact treatment results and patient distress, and mitigate the adverse effects of anxiety-reducing drugs.

Methodology: The study involved 90 patients, including 28 using DRT, 31 using music therapy, and 31 without intervention. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale was employed to measure perioperative anxiety levels.

Objective: The objective of this retrospective study was to study the outcome in patients with basal ganglia, thalamus and brainstem (central/deep) arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) treated with gamma knife radiosurgery (GKS) and to compare the results with that for AVMs at other intracranial locations.

Methods And Results: The results of 53 patients with central AVMs and 255 patients with AVMs at other locations treated with GKS at our center between April 1997 and March 2005 with minimum follow-up of 1 year were analyzed. CENTRAL AVMS: Forty of these 53 AVMs were Spetzler-Martin grade III, 11 were grade IV, and 2 were grade V.

Double aortic arch (DAA) is a form of vascular ring, completely encircling trachea and esophagus by its connecting segments, and thus can lead to clinical picture of aero-digestive tract obstruction. MRI and CECT in addition to the location and extent of aero-digestive tract obstruction can also delineate adjacent cardio-vascular anatomy. 3D reconstruction of aorta and airway can be useful tool for pre-operative planning.

For successful catheter placement, central venous cannulation (CVC) through internal jugular vein and subclavian vein has been recommended in both adult and pediatric patients. But it carries a risk of serious complications, such as pneumothorax, carotid, or subclavian artery puncture, which can be life-threatening, particularly in critically ill children. So a prospective study was carried out to determine the success rate of correct catheter tip placement during CVC through antecubital veins in pediatric neurosurgical patients.
