Background: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of the Buford complex and to investigate its association with labral pathologies (superior labrum anterior-posterior [SLAP] lesion and anterior, posterior, or multidirectional instability) using a very large patient database. Furthermore, the prevalence of the Buford complex in patients without any labral pathology was also determined.

Methods: A total of 3129 consecutive shoulder arthroscopy procedures were retrospectively evaluated for the presence of the Buford complex and coexisting labral pathologies.

Objective: The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of peritoneal re-approximation at the end of the procedure in transperitoneal robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (tRARP) and extended pelvic lymphadenectomy (ePLND) on operative, oncologic, and symptomatic lymphocele rates.

Material And Methods: A total of 79 patients were included in the study who underwent tRARP and bilateral ePLND performed by two different experienced surgeons. One of the surgeons performed the peritoneal re-approximation (Group 1, n=41) and the other did not re-approximate the peritoneum (Group 2, n=38) at the end of the procedure in tRARP and ePLND.

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an important health problem. Pregabalin and gabapentin are similar compounds with analgesic, anticonvulsant, and anxiolytic characteristics. Due to these pharmacological features, they are commonly used throughout the world in neuropathic pain treatment and anxiety disorders. Mild to moderate side effects of the central nervous system, such as dizziness and somnolence, are important factors in deciding to terminate the use of pregabalin.

Objective: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a rare autoimmune disease and hematologic disorder characterized by reduced platelet counts that can result in significant symptoms, such as bleeding, bruising, epistaxis, or petechiae. The thrombopoietin receptor agonist eltrombopag (EPAG) is a second-line agent used to treat chronic ITP purpura in adults and children.

Materials And Methods: The present retrospective study evaluated the efficacy, safety, and side effects of EPAG treatment in pediatric patients with acute refractory and chronic immune thrombocytopenia, particularly focusing on iron-deficiency anemia.

Objective: In the present study, in thorax ultrasonography (USG) Doppler images obtained from cases with occult pneumothorax, we investigated the status of pulsatile pleural sounds over the pleural line and called these as the pleural sound sign (PSS). The purpose of the present study was to identify the efficacy of the proposed PSS in diagnosing pneumothorax and to compare it with the other USG findings including the sliding lung sign (SLS) and seashore sign (SSS).

Methods: The present study included 66 consecutive patients who were referred to the emergency unit with a blunt trauma from October 2009 to January 2010 at a tertiary university hospital.

Background: In this study, we aim to evaluate the potential effects of methylprednisolone on the neurological outcome of spinal cord injury (SCI) patients with thoracolumbar junction (T10-L1) spine fractures.

Methods: The data from 182 SCI patients who sustained a thoracolumbar junction spine fracture were operated by us between September 2008 to January 2015 were analysed retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 underwent methylprednisolone treatment in conjunction with early surgical intervention, while group 2 underwent only early surgical intervention without methylprednisolone treatment.

Background: Acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) is associated with a high mortality rate, yet diagnostic difficulties persist. Although many biomarkers have been investigated for diagnostic purposes, as well as imaging methods, a sufficiently specific and sensitive marker has not been identified. This research was designed to examine whether heparin-binding protein (HBP), which has a role in the early phase of inflammation, could be useful in the diagnosis of AMI.
