Ectopic cervical thymus (ECT) is a rare pediatric pathology usually with an asymptomatic course. In fewer cases, the patient may present with dyspnea, hoarseness, stridor, dysphagia and pain. The mass may present in cystic or solid forms.

The relation between visceral fat markers and cardiometabolic disease risks in psoriasis patients.

Objective: Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory disease that appears with variable trigger factors. We know that obesity and other metabolic syndrome criteria are high in psoriasis patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between visceral fat markers, risk of cardiometabolic disease, and psoriasis area severity index (PASI) in individuals with and without psoriasis.

The effects of melatonin on the healing of burn wounds in pinealectomized rats.

Background: The present study aims to investigate the favorable effects of melatonin on burn wound healing in rats.

Methods: In this study, forty Wistar-albino-type male rats were divided into four groups. Group 1 was the control group, Group 2 rats were treated using exogenous melatonin, Group 3 rats were pinealectomized, and Group 4 rats were pinealectomized then treated with exogenous melatonin.

According to the literature, there were only 66 cases with Tessier 30 cleft reported since 2007. The Impact of Surgical Procedures During Septorhinoplasty on the Intraoperative Pain Response.

Background: During septorhinoplasty, many different surgical procedures are employed to bring the nose to the desired shape and solve breathing complaints. As a matter of course, intraoperative pain response occurs due to these procedures.

Objectives: With this study, the authors aimed to evaluate the intraoperative pain formed during septorhinoplasty surgery with numerical values and to determine which stage of surgery is more painful.

Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is a prognostic predictor in emergency department patients with cutaneous adverse drug reaction.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in emergency department (ED) patients with cutaneous adverse drug reactions to identify the severe patients at an early stage.

Methods: In this retrospective study, patients aged 18 and over who admitted to the ED of a university hospital with the diagnosis of cutaneous adverse drug reaction were included. For included patients, clinical findings and ED admission complete blood count results were recorded.

Abnormal Dynamic Pupillometry Relates to Neurologic Disability and Retinal Axonal Loss in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis.

Purpose: To assess alterations in quantitative dynamic pupil responses to light in relation to neurologic disability and retinal axonal loss in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Methods: Twenty-five patients with relapsing-remitting MS and 25 healthy subjects were included in this cross-sectional study. Pupillary responses were measured with an infrared dynamic pupillometry unit, and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness was measured with spectral-domain optical coherence tomography.

Hearing screening outcomes in neonates of SARS-CoV-2 positive pregnant women.

Objective: The current study aimed to investigate possible association of maternal SARS-CoV-2 with newborn hearing loss. We compared hearing screening outcomes in neonates born to women with positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR test results during pregnancy with healthy controls.

Methods: Neonates born between April and December 2020 in our hospital to mothers with positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR test results during pregnancy were included in this study.

Maternal hypertension, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia and newborn hearing: A retrospective analysis of 454 newborns.

Objective: Maternal hypertension and preeclampsia have been related to sensorineural hearing loss in newborns. To investigate potential connections, we compared newborn hearing screening (NHS) results from newborns of mothers with chronic hypertension, preeclampsia, and eclampsia with results from newborns of healthy controls. The present study is unique with regard to its large sample size and the analysis of the possible effects of three different hypertensive disorders on newborn hearing.

Altered pupillary light responses are associated with the severity of autonomic symptoms in patients with Fabry disease.

Symptoms of autonomic dysfunction are common in Fabry disease. In this study we aimed to evaluate alterations in the pupillary response to white light stimulation in patients with Fabry disease and their association with the severity of autonomic symptoms. Fourteen consecutive patients with Fabry disease and 14 healthy control participants were enrolled in this cross-sectional study.

Predicting the outcome of COVID-19 infection in kidney transplant recipients.

Background: We aimed to present the demographic characteristics, clinical presentation, and outcomes of our multicenter cohort of adult KTx recipients with COVID-19.

Methods: We conducted a multicenter, retrospective study using data of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 collected from 34 centers in Turkey. Demographic characteristics, clinical findings, laboratory parameters (hemogram, CRP, AST, ALT, LDH, and ferritin) at admission and follow-up, and treatment strategies were reviewed.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma in a child with Kartagener`s syndrome.

Background: Kartagener`s syndrome, a subgroup of primary ciliary dyskinesia, is characterized by situs inversus totalis, chronic sinusitis and bronchiectasis. To date, the association of malignant diseases and Kartagener`s syndrome has been reported and all cases except angioimmunoblastic T cell lymphoma in a child have been seen in adulthood.

Case: A 10-year-old boy who was followed with the diagnosis of Katagener`s syndrome, presented with a progressive mass in the cervical region for 6 months.

Introduction: We aimed to investigate the role of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the C-Reactive Protein/Albumin Ratio (CAR), which are obtained from the first laboratory values of the elderly patients at admission to the emergency department (ED), in predicting in-hospital mortality.

Methods: This retrospective observational study includes the patients aged 65 and above who applied to the emergency department for two months. The patients' neutrophil, lymphocyte, C-reactive protein (CRP), albumin, NLR and CAR values were recorded.

Bag-Valve-Mask versus Laryngeal Mask Airway Ventilation in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with Continuous Compressions: A Simulation Study.

Introduction: The 2017 International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) guideline recommends that Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers can perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with synchronous or asynchronous ventilation until an advanced airway has been placed. In the current literature, limited data on CPR performed with continuous compressions and asynchronous ventilation with bag-valve-mask (BVM) are available.

Study Objective: In this study, researchers aimed to compare the effectiveness of asynchronous BVM and laryngeal mask airway (LMA) ventilation during CPR with continuous chest compressions.

Acute appendicitis in pregnancy.

Background: Acute appendicitis is the most common cause of non-obstetric acute abdomen in pregnant women. We examined the patients who were admitted to our emergency department with abdominal pain and diagnosed with acute appendicitis in the light of the literature.

Methods: Seventeen pregnant patients with acute appendicitis who were admitted to the emergency department of Sanliurfa Training and Research Hospital between the years of 2016-2019 were retrospectively analyzed using an electronic recording system.

Endometrial CD56+ natural killer cells in women with recurrent implantation failure: An immunohistochemical study.

Mortality analysis of COVID-19 infection in chronic kidney disease, haemodialysis and renal transplant patients compared with patients without kidney disease: a nationwide analysis from Turkey.

Comparison between the Effects of Bretschneider's HTK Solution and Cold Blood Cardioplegia on Systemic Endothelial Functions in Patients who Undergo Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery: a Prospective Randomized and Controlled Trial.

Objective: To investigate the effects of Bretschneider's histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate (HTK) solution and cold blood cardioplegia on systemic endothelial functions.

Methods: A total of 50 patients who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass surgery between March 2018 and May 2018 were randomly divided into two groups - group 1 (Bretschneider's HTK solution, n=25) and group 2 (cold blood cardioplegia, n=25). Data related to the indicators of endothelial dysfunction were recorded.

Assessment of pupillary light reflex using dynamic pupillometry in laser-treated eyes with retinal vein occlusion.

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the pupillary light reflex measured with dynamic pupillometry in patients who underwent retinal laser photocoagulation due to unilateral retinal vein occlusion (RVO).

Methods: A total of 48 patients with unilateral RVO were included in the study. Thirty-four patients had undergone retinal laser photocoagulation while the remaining 14 patients that did not undergo laser treatment were observed for control purposes.

Ameliorating the effects of Adalimumab on rabbits with experimental cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Background: Adalimumab (ADA), which is a new-generation recombinant human monoclonal antibody for tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), has strong anti-inflammatory effects. The role of enhanced inflammation is well established for the development and progression of cerebral vasospasm. Investigated in the present study is the probable ameliorating and neuroprotective effects of ADA in rabbits using a cerebral vasospasm model with biochemical and histopathological methods.
