Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is a congenital cardiac preexcitation syndrome that arises from abnormal cardiac electrical conduction through an accessory pathway and results in symptomatic and life-threatening arrhythmias. The aim of this study is to analyze the patterns of gender representation among first-author publications concerning "Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome" within the PubMed-indexed publications from "January 1, 1973, to December 31, 2022," based on country and year. On May 9, 2023, bibliometric analysis was performed.

Introduction The indoor air in hospitals could play a significant role in the transmission of a wide array of infections, especially in respiratory intensive care units, pulmonary outpatient departments, and other areas. Unprotected coughing and sneezing may facilitate the release of aerosols and contaminate the indoor environment. The majority of infections transmitted through these modes include viral diseases, including tuberculosis (TB), influenza, and measles, among several others.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to investigate the relationships between specific biochemical markers (serum calcium, phosphorus, parathyroid hormone, vitamin D, and FGF23) in chronic hemodialysis patients, and how these markers correlate with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) results, which assess bone mineral density.
  • The study involved 50 hemodialysis patients aged 18 and older, who had been on treatment for at least six months, and included evaluations of their serum levels of various markers and DEXA scans for bone density around specific body areas.
  • Results indicated that patients had consistently high levels of parathyroid hormone and FGF23, low levels of vitamin D, and an overall negative correlation between

External Auditory Canal Pleomorphic Adenoma: A Rare Case Presentation.

Indian J Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg

December 2022

Department of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, Navodaya Medical College, Raichur, Karnataka India.

Pleomorphic adenoma originating from the external auditory canal is extremely rare, benign tumor. Ceruminal glands are modified sweat glands of the skin, present in the external auditory canal that may give rise to (a) benign tumors such as ceruminous adenoma, pleomorphic adenoma, and syringocystadenoma papilliferum, or (b) malignant tumors such as ceruminous adenocarcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and mucoepidermoid carcinoma. We report a case where a 25-year-old woman presented with right aural swelling and otalgia since 1 year.

Background And Aims: It is challenging to give the patient position for subarachnoid block (SAB) as intertrochanteric (IT) fracture of the femur produces intolerable pain. In this study, we have analyzed the usefulness of combined ultrasonography (USG)-guided femoral nerve block (FNB) and lateral femoral cutaneous nerve block (LFCNB) to reduce the fracture pain before performing SAB.

Material And Methods: A prospective, randomized, comparative study was conducted on 60 American society of anesthesiologists (ASA) grade I and II patients (18-80 years) scheduled for elective IT fracture surgery.

Unlabelled: In Diabetes, there is increased platelet activity which is implicated as a factor for development of micro and macro vascular complications. The function of platelets seems to be related to their sizes as Function of Large platelets are more reactive and contain large amount of dense granules which can increase thrombogenic potential. These can be studied by platelet indices like - Plateletcrit (PCT), Mean Platelet Volume (MPV), Platelet Distribution Width (PDW), and Platelet-Large Cell Ratio (P-LCR).
