In order to find out the response mechanism of nitrogen assimilation and glutamine/glutamine family of amino acids metabolism in mulberry ( L.) leaves under NaCl and NaHCO stress, and to reveal its role in salt alkali adaptation. The effects of the nitrogen metabolism of mulberry leaves were studied under 100 mmol L NaCl and NaHCO stress.

To explore the mechanisms underlying the action of the heavy metals Cd and Zn on the photosynthetic function of plant leaves, the effects of 100 μmol L Cd and 200 μmol L Zn stress (the exposure concentrations of Cd and Zn in the culture medium were 2.24 mg kg and 5.36 mg kg) on the chlorophyll and carotenoid contents as well as the photosynthetic function of tobacco leaves (Long Jiang 911) were studied.

Cadmium stress causes a decrease in chlorophyll content and inhibits photosynthesis in tobacco leaves. The role of thioredoxin-like protein CDSP32 expressed in plant chloroplasts is to alleviates the reduced enzymes expression involved in chlorophyll synthesis of tobacco leaves due to Cd exposure, effectively preventing chlorophyll degradation and promoting increased tobacco biomass. Overexpression of Trx CDSP32 can protect the oxygen-evolving complex on the PSII donor side and promote electron transfer on the PSII acceptor side of tobacco leaves under Cd stress.

To explore the mechanism of how lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) stress affects photosynthesis of mulberry (Morus alba L.), we looked at the effects of different concentrations of Pb and Cd stress (at 100 and 200 μmol L), which are two heavy metal elements, on leaf chlorophyll (Chl), photosynthesis gas exchange, Chl fluorescence, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) metabolism in mulberry leaves. The results showed that higher concentrations of Pb and Cd reduced leaf Chl content, especially in Chl a where content was more sensitive than in Chl b.

In this paper, the effects of 100 mM NaCl and NaHCO stress on reactive oxygen species (ROS) and physiological and proteomic aspects of ROS metabolism in mulberry seedling leaves were studied. The results showed that NaCl stress had little effect on photosynthesis and respiration of mulberry seedling leaves. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and the expression of related proteins in leaves increased by varying degrees, and accumulation of superoxide anion (O·) not observed.

Chlorophyll (Chl) and effective photoprotective mechanism are important prerequisites to ensure the photosynthetic function of plants under stress. In this study, the effects of 100 mmol L NaCl and NaHCO stress on chlorophyll synthesis and photosynthetic function of mulberry seedlings were studied by physiological combined with proteomics technology. The results show that: NaCl stress had little effect on the expression of Chl synthesis related proteins, and there were no significant changes in Chl content and Chl a:b ratio.

This study investigated the effect of NaCl stress on Na and K absorption and transport by roots, nitrogen and phosphorus content in leaves, PSII photochemical activity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in leaves of mulberry own-root seedlings and grafted seedlings. To determine the response, own-root seedlings of a high yielding mulberry cultivar, Tieba mulberry ( L.), and the grafted seedlings, obtained by using Qinglong mulberry with high salt tolerance as rootstock and Tieba mulberry as scion, were used.

This experiment was conducted to study the responses of photosynthetic gas exchange parameters and the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in leaves to soil drought. Furthermore, the drought resistance abilities of the endangered native Physocarpus amurensis and the introduced P. opulifolius as well as their differences were studied.

The present study aims to investigate the differences in leaf pigment content and the photosynthetic characteristics under natural and low light intensities between the Chinese native Physocarpus amurensis Maxim and the imported Physocarpus opulifolius "Diabolo" from North America. We aim to discuss the responses and the adaptive mechanism of these two cultivars of Physocarpus to a low light environment. The results show that the specific leaf area (SLA) and the chlorophyll content were significantly increased in the leaves of both Physocarpus cultivars in response to a low light intensity, and the SLA and chlorophyll content were higher in the leaves of low light-treated P.

Diverse intercropping system has been used to control disease and improve productivity in the field. In this research, the bacterial communities in salt-alkali soils of monoculture and intercropping mulberry and soybean were studied using 454-pyrosequencing of the 16S rDNA gene. The dominant taxonomic groups were Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Bacteroidetes, Planctomycetes and Gemmatimonadetes and these were present across all samples.
