Despite the high progress that has been made in the field of cardiology, the left ventricular assist device (LVAD) can still cause complications (thrombosis/bleeding) in heart failure (HF) patients after implantation. Complications develop due to the incorrect dose of antithrombotic therapy, due to the influence of the non-physiological shear stress of the device, and also due to inherited genetic polymorphisms. Therefore, the aim of our study is to identify the influence of the genetic polymorphisms on complication development in HF patients with implanted LVADs with prescribed antiplatelet therapy.

Despite new approaches in the treatment of cardiovascular disease (CVD) such as percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary artery bypass graft, and left ventricular assist devices, which cannot fully compensate for the effectiveness of the original heart, heart transplantation still remains as the most effective solution. A growing body of literature recognizes the importance of developing a whole heart constructed from living tissues to provide an alternative option for patients suffering from diseases of the cardiovascular system. A potential solution that shows a promise is to generate cell-free, i.

Familial hypercholesterolemia is an autosomal hereditary disease defined by an increased level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), which predisposes significant risks for premature cardiovascular disorders. We present a family trio study: proband, a 13-year-old Kazakh girl with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) and her parents. HoFH is much more rare and severe than a heterozygous form of the disorder.

Introduction: The reduction of fluoroscopic exposure during catheter ablation of supraventricular arrhythmias is widely adopted by experienced electrophysiology physicians with a relatively short learning curve and is becoming the standard of care in many parts of the world. While observational studies in the United States and some parts of Western Europe have evaluated the minimal fluoroscopic approach, there are scarce real-world data for this technique and the generalizability of outcomes in other economic regions.
Method: The AALARA study is a prospective, observational, multicenter, and multinational open-label study.

Background: There is uncertainty regarding the best revascularization approach-whether coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)-for obese patients suffering from multi-vessel coronary artery disease.
Results: 406 patients with low and intermediate SYNTAX scores (SS) underwent PCI with drug-eluting stents (n = 200, 100 with SS ≤ 22, and 100 with SS 23-32) and CABG (n = 206, 100 with SS ≤ 22, and 106 with SS 23-32). Patients were also categorized by body mass index (BMI): normal weight (12%, 48 patients), overweight (41.
Background: Hemodynamic forces (HDF) analysis has been proposed as a method to quantify intraventricular pressure gradients, however data on its reliability are still scanty. Thus, the aim of this study is to assess the reliability of HDF parameters derived from cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR).
Methods: CMR studies of 25 athletes were analysed by two independent observers and then re-analysed by the same observer one week apart.

The usage of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in cardiothoracic surgery contributes to the activation of the inflammatory response. In certain cases, the systemic inflammatory response may be immoderate, leading to organ dysfunction, such as acute renal failure or multiorgan dysfunction. This study aimed to examine the effect of haemoadsorption (HA) therapy on inflammatory markers and renal damage indices during cardiopulmonary bypass and in the early postoperative period.

Recent studies highlight the crucial role of the gut microbiome in post-infectious complications, especially in patients recovering from severe COVID-19. Our research aimed to explore the connection between gut microbiome changes and the cytokine profile of patients with post-COVID syndrome. Using 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing, we analyzed the composition of the gut microbiome in 60 COVID-19 patients over the course of one year.

Recent studies have suggested that periodontal disease and alterations in the oral microbiome may be associated with cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease (AD) development. Here, we report a case-control study of oral microbiota diversity in AD patients compared to healthy seniors from Central Asia. We have characterized the bacterial taxonomic composition of the oral microbiome from AD patients (n = 64) compared to the healthy group (n = 71) using 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing.

Introduction: In Kazakhstan, a country of 19 million residents, more than 100,000 patients need palliative care. Since at least one family member is usually involved in the care of a terminal patient, more than 200,000 people would benefit from high-quality palliative care services in the country. However, with only 45 physicians and 101 nurses attending to 1925 palliative beds, Kazakhstan seeks to develop palliative services that meet the national needs in resource-limited settings and international standards.

Background: Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) candidates are at increased risk of immune dysregulation and infectious complications. To attenuate the elevated proinflammatory cytokine levels and associated adverse clinical outcomes, it has been postulated that extracorporeal blood purification could improve the overall survival rate and morbidity of patients undergoing LVAD implantation.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed prospectively collected data of 15 patients who underwent LVAD implantation at our center between January 2021 and March 2022.

Approximately 40 million people in need of palliative care worldwide, while 80% of them live in low- and middle-income countries. Kazakhstan, a low-to middle-income country with a reforming healthcare system, is committed to improving quality and accessibility of care for its 100,000 terminal patients in need of palliative care. To join the group of countries where palliative care is available, accessible, and affordable, Kazakhstan must integrate palliative services into the mainstream healthcare system at all levels, from primary healthcare to hospices, and from major cities to remote villages.
