Doxorubicin (DOX) is a cytotoxic anthracycline used to treat a variety of cancers. Cardiotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, and nephrotoxicity are adverse effects of DOX, that limit prognosis. The study aims to determine if diosmin (DIOS) and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) alone or in combination protect rats against DOX-induced liver and kidney damage.

The current study aimed to investigate the therapeutic potential of a novel benzimidazole derivative (BMPE) and a prebiotic bacterial levan (LevAE) against triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) in a 4T1-cell syngeneic mouse model and to elucidate the immunological and molecular mechanisms underlying the phenotypic changes observed in treated tumors. The metastatic TNBC model was successfully established by subcutaneous inoculation of 100 μl of 4T1 cell suspension (~6000 cells) in the mammary glands of adult female BALB/c mice after brief immunosuppression one day before cell implantation. The therapeutic efficacy of BMPE and LevAE was biochemically, immunologically, and immunohistochemically evaluated.

Background: Plastic products use phthalate to enhance their flexibility, transparency, and stability, while behenic acid is a carboxylic acid with antioxidant activity.
Objectives: This study evaluates whether behenic acid can protect the testosterone cycle and prevent the sperm apoptosis and protein loss in phthalate-treated male rats.
Methods: There were 36 male albino rats in all, divided into six equal sets of six rats each: control, behenic acid (13 g/kg), behenic acid (26 g/kg), diethyl phthalate (10 mg/kg), behenic acid (13 g/kg) + diethyl phthalate (10 mg/kg), and behenic acid (26 g/kg) + diethyl phthalate (10 mg/kg)-treated groups.

Introduction: Prostate cancer (PCa) management presents a multifaceted clinical challenge, intricately linking oncological considerations with cardiovascular health. Despite the recognized importance of lipid metabolism and hypertension in this interwoven relationship, their involvement in PCa development remains partially understood. This study aimed to explore variations in plasma metabolome among Sudanese PCa patients and their associated comorbidities.

In this study, we demonstrated how to design and construct a highly specific and sensitive sensor capable of rapidly and accurately detecting ascorbic acid (AA). A sulfonamide derivative (S) acting as a novel monomer was synthesized through an aldol condensation reaction. Subsequently, a free radical-mediated grafting polymerization approach was used to create a new generation of gelatin (Gel) grafted with poly sulfonamide derivative (Gel-g-PS).

Storage of shell eggs converts natural ovalbumin (N-OVA) into its more thermostable forms (S-OVA). This conversion may be associated with deterioration in the foaming properties of the stored shell egg. Thus, the foaming behavior of N-OVA and S-OVA, especially their performance at different pH conditions, was conducted.

This study evaluated the effects of Moringa oleifera leaf powder extract stabilized with zinc nanoparticles (ZnNPs-MLPE) as a natural growth promoter in broiler diets. Randomly assigned 264 one-day-old Ross 308 chicks to four different feeding treatments, with each group being subdivided into six replicates, each comprising 11 unsexed chicks. The control group was fed a basic diet without additives, while the experimental groups were supplemented with 1.

Retinoblastoma (RB) proteins are highly conserved transcriptional regulators that play important roles during development by regulating cell-cycle gene expression. RBL2 dysfunction has been linked to a severe neurodevelopmental disorder. However, to date, clinical features have only been described in six individuals carrying five biallelic predicted loss of function (pLOF) variants.

New thiadiazolopyrimidine-ornamented pyrazolones (4a-8b) have been synthesized by a cyclocondensation reaction of 3a, b with different active methylene compounds. The structure of our products was confirmed via different physical and spectroscopic data. We assessed all newly thiadiazolopyrimidine-ornamented pyrazolones' potential to inhibit angiogenesis, metastasis, and cancer growth by utilizing in-silico investigations focused on the VEGFR-2 signaling pathway and elucidate their pharmacokinetic features using ADMET.

Continuous efforts are made to explore alternative methods for reducing Schistosomiasis. So, this study evaluated the effectiveness of Chlorella vulgaris and Pediastrum boryanum extracts carried on their nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) as immunostimulants for Biomphalaria alexandrina snails against Schistosoma mansoni infection. The results showed that the lowest cercarial shedding/snail was 340 and 330 with 400 mg/L of C.

One of the main mechanisms leading to the death of patients with sepsis is an imbalance of the immune response to pathogens. Activation of immune cells, in particular neutrophils, plays a key role in the mechanisms of sepsis.

Objective: To study the features of protein expression of gene in primary breast cancer (BC) and to identify its relationship with regional metastasis.
Material And Methods: The study included 358 cases of primary BC stages I-III without neoadjuvant chemotherapy with an assessment of a number of clinical, morphological and immunohistochemical parameters of the tumor, including NDRG1 protein expression status and its expression level.
Results: In two study groups with and without metastatic lymph node involvement, a statistically significant relationship was found between NDRG1 expression and histological type of BC, tumor grade, estrogen receptors expression, progesterone receptors expression, HER2 status and index Ki-67 (tumor cell proliferative activity).

Herein, we describe a novel coupling between ambiphilic 2-pyridylselenyl reagents and nitriles featuring an active α-methylene group. Depending on the solvent employed, this reaction can yield two distinct types of cationic pyridinium-fused selenium-containing heterocycles, 1,3-selenazolium or 1,2,4-selenadiazolium salts, in high yields. This is in contrast to what we observed before for other nitriles.

The rising incidence of vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) has been leading to the development of alternative antifungal therapies. This study aimed to develop a topical chitosan-oleic acid nanoparticle (CH-OA-NP) cream loaded with lemon peel essential oil (LPEO) for VVC treatment. The characterization of the optimal nanoparticle formulation (F4: 10 g/L CH, 2:1 OA/LPEO ratio) showed high encapsulation efficiency, stability, and controlled release.

Background/objectives: Chronic pain impacts approximately 18% of the Spanish population, with low levels of vitamin D prevalent in over 80% of individuals over 65. Given vitamin D's critical role in pain modulation, its deficiency may be significantly linked to chronic musculoskeletal pain, though existing research offers mixed results.
Methods: This systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines, examining studies from PubMed, Cochrane, and PEDRO databases from 1990 onwards that investigated the relationship between vitamin D levels and chronic musculoskeletal pain.
