Background: Damage to the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is vital for the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Ginsenoside Rg2 (G-Rg2) has been shown to improve a variety of brain injuries, but whether G-Rg2 can improve the BBB leakage related to AD is still unclear.
Purpose: Illuminate the effect and mechanism of G-Rg2 on AD-related BBB damage.

Postharvest fibrosis and greening of buds significantly affect their quality during storage. This study aimed to clarify the effects of low-temperature storage on postharvest red TSB quality harvested in different seasons. Red TSB samples were collected from Guizhou province, China, 21 days after the beginning of spring (Lichun), summer (Lixia), and autumn (Liqiu), and stored at 4 °C in dark conditions.

Bacterial infection is a key factor affecting wound healing. Conventional treatments might lead to the widespread emergence of drug-resistant bacteria due to the long-term and excessive use of antibiotics. It is necessary to develop an antibiotic-free method for effective treatment of bacterial wound infections.

With the rapid development of nanotechnology and biomedicine, numerous gadolinium (Gd)-based nanoparticle MRI contrast agents have been widely investigated. Due to the unique physicochemical properties of nanoparticles and the complexity of biological systems, the biosafety of Gd-based nanoparticle MRI contrast agents has been paid more and more attention. Herein, for the first time, we employed an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization quadrupole time-of-flight/mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-QTOF/MS)-based metabolomics approach to investigate the potential toxicity of Gd-based nanoparticle MRI contrast agents.

This study investigated the protective effect of lobetyolin (LBT), a Q-marker isolated from the roots of Platycodon grandiflorum (Radix Platycodi), against cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity in human embryonic kidney (HEK293) cells. Results showed that LBT at 20 μM significantly prevented cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity by improving the viability of HEK293 cells, decreasing levels of MDA, and decreasing GSH content triggered by cisplatin. It also suppressed reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Alzheimer's disease (AD) was considered to be a neurodegenerative disease that caused cognitive impairment. Reactive Oxidative stress (ROS) was considered to be one of a major cause of the onset and progression of AD. Platycodin D (PD), a representative saponin from Platycodon grandiflorum, has conspicuous antioxidant activity.
