FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) genetic variants are commonly seen in high-grade myeloid neoplasms and are typically gain-of-function mutations associated with a proliferative disease phenotype. Inactivating FLT3 variants have been less frequently described in non-malignant, autoimmune disorders and are uncommon in aplastic anemia (AA). Herein, we report the first to our knowledge, and unusual case of a germline, gain-of-function, FLT3 variant in a patient with severe AA treated successfully with immunosuppressive therapy.

This prospective observational study explored whether rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM), a method that unveils coagulation status, predicts outcomes of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. We investigated 62 patients using ROTEM that was conducted at enrollment, clinical deterioration, discharge and follow-up visits 1 and 3 months post-discharge.

Well-defined amorphous/semi-crystalline statistical copolymers of n-dodecyl isocyanate, DDIC, and allyl isocyanate, ALIC, were synthesized via coordination polymerization using the chiral half-titanocene complex CpTiCl(O-(S)-2-Bu) as an initiator. In the frame of the terminal model, the monomer reactivity ratios of the statistical copolymers were calculated using both well-known linear graphical methods and the computer program COPOINT. The molecular and structural characteristics of the copolymers were also calculated.

This study aimed to examine these differences among VOCs, considering multiple related factors. An observational cohort study was conducted on patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection via nasopharyngeal/oropharyngeal swab who visited the emergency department of a public Greek hospital between October 2020 and July 2022 during different VOC circulation in the region.

High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) is widely utilized in natural products research due to its simplicity, low cost, and short total analysis time, including data treatment. While bioautography can be used for rapid detection of bioactive compounds in extracts, the number of available bioautographic methods is limited mainly due to the high cost and difficulty in developing protocols that lead to accurate and reproducible results. For this reason, an alternative method for the detection of bioactive compounds in plant extracts prior to their isolation using HPTLC, combined with multivariate chemometrics, was previously explored by our lab.
