Department of Accounting & Finance, Feliciano School of Business, Montclair State University, Montclair, New Jersey, United States of America.

This study uses the Oracle SQL certification exam questions to explore the design of automatic classifiers for exam questions containing code snippets. SQL's question classification assigns a class label in the exam topics to a question. With this classification, questions can be selected from the test bank according to the testing scope to assemble a more suitable test paper.

After a fracture, patients have reduced willingness to bend and extend their elbow joint due to pain, resulting in muscle atrophy, contracture, and stiffness around the elbow. Moreover, this may lead to progressive atrophy of the muscles around the elbow, resulting in permanent functional loss. Currently, a goniometer is used to measure the range of motion, ROM, to evaluate the recovery of the affected limb.

Herein, we have presented a lauric acid (LA)-loaded jelly fig pectin (JFP)-based biocompatible hydrogel, which possesses strong antioxidant and antibacterial properties to treat diabetic wounds. The antioxidant and antibacterial activity of the JFP + LA hydrogels were beneficial in eliminating the reactive oxygen species (ROS) and bacterial infection in the wound bed, thereby protecting the wound surface and accelerating the tissue repair process. The in vivo diabetic wound healing studies demonstrated that applying JFP + LA hydrogels improved the rate of wound contraction and reduced the epithelialization time significantly.

This paper seeks to enhance the performance of Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) for detecting abnormal heart sounds. Heart sounds are first pre-processed to remove noise and then segmented into S1, systole, S2, and diastole intervals, with thirteen MFCCs estimated from each segment, yielding 52 MFCCs per beat. Finally, MFCCs are used for heart sound classification.

Introduction: Vascular access (VA) is essential for patients with hemodialysis, and its dysfunction is a major complication that can reduce quality of life or even threaten life. VA patency is not only difficult to predict on an individual basis, but also challenging to predict in real-time. To overcome this challenge, this study aimed to develop a machine learning approach to predict 6-month primary patency (PP) using photoplethysmography (PPG) signals acquired from the tips of both index fingers.

This paper presents an innovative control strategy for the trajectory tracking of wheelchair upper-limb exoskeleton robots, integrating sliding mode control with a barrier function-based prescribed performance approach to handle actuator faults and external disturbances. The dynamic model of the exoskeleton robot is first extended to account for these uncertainties. The control design is then divided into two phases.

Yunlin County, Taiwan, faces healthcare challenges given its super-aged population, limited medical accessibility, and a rise in chronic wounds. To address these issues, we introduced the "Fight Out to CARE" project, dispatching wound nurses to patients' locations to perform Cleansing, Avoidance, Removal, and Enhancement (CARE) under tele-supervision from a plastic surgeon. The program was conducted weekly in 2018 and twice monthly in 2019 for 53 weeks.

Electronic address:

Wound adhesion after any abdominal and gastrointestinal surgery is as high as 90 %, and if the adhesion is severe, it will be fatal. During the operation, various methods are used to avoid the adhesion of organs, such as reducing surgical wound area and using hydrogel products with short gelation time. However, these gels might cause allergy, and the gels are unsuitable for long-lasting recovery processes because the body absorbs them too quickly to avoid sticking.

Within the intricate fabric of human physiology, cholesterol, a lipid present in cell membranes exerts a discernible effect on the concentration of the drug in human body that influence the aspects of drug pharmacokinetics. The objective of this work is to design a case study based fractional order cholesterol drug interaction model that encapsulates the nuanced dynamics inherent in the multifaceted human physiology with identification of essential variables including drug concentration K and cholesterol level γ. The strength of nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs (NARX) neural networks are exploited to predict the temporal dynamics that reveal the hidden intricacies and subtle patterns within the fractional model.

Article Synopsis
  • Personalized federated learning aims to improve model performance for users with varying data distributions, but current methods inadequately handle both data and system heterogeneity, resulting in inefficient training and poor performance.
  • FedPRL is a new approach that addresses these issues by focusing on personalized strategies for local data storage, enabling better feature extraction for clients, and improving performance with non-IID data.
  • The method also includes a client selection mechanism using reinforcement learning to optimize client selection based on data quality, which enhances training efficiency, along with techniques to mitigate catastrophic forgetting, ultimately boosting the overall model performance.

Article Synopsis
  • The rise of skin-like electronics has led to a demand for polymer semiconductors (PSCs) that are both stretchy and perform well electrically, but achieving this balance is challenging.
  • Researchers suggest using tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane (BCF) for Lewis acid doping to improve charge mobility while enhancing stretchability by increasing structural disorder.
  • Key findings show that adjusting the lamellar stacking distance and reducing crystallinity allows for better BCF incorporation, leading to a two-fold increase in carrier mobility and a 100% crack onset strain, with stable performance under significant strain over extended cycles.

  • This study investigates how sarcopenia, hemodialysis sessions, and gait characteristics affect fall risk in older patients with end-stage kidney disease.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 22 patients aged 65 and older, comparing those at higher risk of sarcopenia (SARC-F ≥ 4) with those at lower risk (SARC-F < 4) based on their gait metrics.
  • Results indicated that patients at higher risk exhibited more gait abnormalities and that certain improvements in gait performance post-dialysis were observed, suggesting a link between dialysis and fall risk changes.

Vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) have emerged as a promising energy storage solution for stabilizing power grids integrated with renewable energy sources. In this study, we synthesized and evaluated a series of zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) derivatives as electrode materials for VRFBs, aiming to enhance electrochemical performance. Four materials-Co/NC-700, Co/NC-800, CoO-350, and CoO-450-were prepared through thermal decomposition under different conditions and coated onto graphite felt (GF) electrodes.

Based on the conventional solution of Prandtl's stress function for an orthotropic rectangular bar under Saint-Venant's torsion, one can derive displacements, shear strains, shear stresses and torsional rigidity. The conventional solution of Prandtl's stress function has a hyperbolic function for the coordinate in the bar's thickness direction, and a trigonometric function for the coordinate in the width direction. This paper raises questions about the solution.
