De novo protein design generally consists of two steps, including structure and sequence design. Many protein design studies have focused on sequence design with scaffolds adapted from native structures in the PDB, which renders novel areas of protein structure and function space unexplored. We developed FoldDesign to create novel protein folds from specific secondary structure (SS) assignments through sequence-independent replica-exchange Monte Carlo (REMC) simulations.

Butelase-1, an asparaginyl endopeptidase or legumain, is the prototypical and fastest known Asn/Asp-specific peptide ligase. It is highly useful for engineering and macrocyclization of peptides and proteins. However, certain biochemical properties and applications of naturally occurring and recombinant butelase-1 remain unexplored.

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a deadly disease with limited treatment options. Selinexor is a selective inhibitor of nuclear export that binds covalently to exportin 1 thereby reactivating tumor suppressor proteins and downregulating expression of oncogenes and DNA damage repair (DDR) proteins. Olaparib is a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor approved for the treatment of patients with breast cancer harboring mutations.

Feasibility of e-Health Interventions on Smoking Cessation among Vietnamese Active Internet Users.

Department of Psychological Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, Singapore 119228, Singapore.

Although e-health interventions are widely implemented as a supportive measure to smoking cessation, there is a lack of evidence in the feasibility of its application among Vietnamese youths, which is considered to be one of the most frequent internet using populations. This study assessed the quitting attempts among smokers and their preference and willingness to pay for smartphone-based cessation supporting applications in a sample of active internet users approached. A total of 1082 participants were recruited for the online-based survey from August to October 2015 in Vietnam.

Core transcription regulatory circuitry (CRC) is comprised of a small group of self-regulated transcription factors (TFs) and their interconnected regulatory loops. Studies from embryonic stem cells and other cellular models have revealed the elementary roles of CRCs in transcriptional control of cell identity and cellular fate. Systematic identification and subsequent archiving of CRCs across diverse cell types and tissues are needed to explore both cell/tissue type-specific and disease-associated transcriptional networks.
